Two names starting with Z for a boy and a girl?

SnappyDenimUser · 20/07/2025 10:07

We have a boy called Zach, we are expecting a girl soon. My partner and I are having trouble picking names for a girl we’re both very fussy.
he really likes very few, one of the names he prefers the most is Zara. I said it might be cringe with the two z’s he said that it wasn’t even planned about the z’s he just seen the name and actually really liked it.
so it would be Zach and Zara. I do love the name too. Just worried it’s to similar to Zach? If we go on to have a third, that baby definitely won’t have a name with Z. It’s not meant to be a family theme at all. We just like the name and it looks planned but it isn’t. Would it be strange down the line having Zach, Zara and a child with a completely different name and letter then?
whar do you think? I’m torn because I really like it too. I worry it will be judged and seen as intentional or cringe to others.

If you were to have a third I really couldn’t have two with a Z and one without. Just seems so wrong in my mind! How about Sara, Kara or Lara?

Hoolahoophop · 24/07/2025 17:52

Op I posted on your thread before with a silly xyz comment. Zara is a gorgeous name use it if you love it. A lifetime with a good name that happens to have the same initial as her brother is better than a compromise name for life. X

You could do Zeek (Ezekiel) and Zara, so post eventually comes with a Z and an E to distinguish.

ZEUS & ZENA

Go big or go home!

I was going to say Zeus and Zoe, and also if you commit to two Zs then you’ll have to stick with it for a third. Changing it would be odder than keeping to the theme IMO.

I know a family with Zara, Zac and Zane, never really thought much more about it! If you like it, go for it

urghhh47 · 24/07/2025 17:17

What about Xanthe - same sound but different initial to avoid confusions. I'm biased as my 24yr old DD is one! Otherwise I love Zoe and Zara

I immediately thought of Vita. Not what you were asking, but I don't think another Z name is the way to go.

I find it cringey when the kids are all named with the same first letter. Children are all completely individual people, not a production line of the family brand.

I know I asked for advice, but I didn’t expect the amount of people saying we’re not allowing our children to be individuals if we choose the name. I’m sure I made it clear by the post that’s NOT what I want to happen.. hence why I made the post I don’t want it to look like that, I understand it does look like that. But we are NOT trying to make a family brand. My partner and I genuinely just really liked the name. We were searching all over for names absolutely nothing to do with Z if anything I looked away from any names with Z. However my partner suggested he just came across it on a site and it wasn’t because it started with Z he genuinely just really liked the name and thought it was sweet. He hasn’t come across many names he likes and when he suggested it I realised I do actually like the name too then the worry came with the fact it was a Z name and how it would look. We want to pick a name we like and think is sweet. It had nothing to do with branding our family it’s upsetting, I would never not see my children as individuals. I’m not one of those people who do everything for aesthetics at all. It’s clear tho that people think we look shallow like we’re trying to brand our family which we’re not.

I think it’s fine, just pronounce the names as Zach, (other child) and Zara.

whackamole666 · 24/07/2025 02:08

Zendaya and Zorro

nah, it’s a bit too Wayne and Colleen.

TiswasPhantomFlanFlinger · 22/07/2025 00:22

Zelda or Zena or Zoe

Conniebygaslight · 21/07/2025 22:39

I personally wouldn’t as Z is very obvious and sounds very different than 2 children with E for example. Also if you then have a 3rd who isn’t a Z they might feel a bit alienated from their siblings.

@GoodVibesHere , don't you ever receive parcels?

Yes, but they have full names on them

Latenightreader · 21/07/2025 21:19

Zach and Zara sound like heroes of a children's adventure series. Zach and Zara and the Mysterious Island, Zach and Zara meet the Pirates... I really like the combination!

yakkity · 21/07/2025 21:12

CrispieCake · 20/07/2025 10:30

I wouldn't have all Zs but there are some names to choose:

Zabrina
Zelda
Zion
Zander
Zane
Zayden

OP isn’t asking for names. She has the name. She’s asking if it’s silly to use 2 Z names

Unexpectedlysinglemum · 21/07/2025 20:51

Lovely having both z

Hoolahoophop · 21/07/2025 13:21

I like Zach and Zara, but would opt for Zach and Xena, and if you had a third starting with Y. Because I like the idea of three kids with the initials X,Y and Z.

But I'm not sure I am helping.

MrJollyLivesNextDoor · 21/07/2025 13:08

Xenia? Then you get the z sound without the letter z

Love Zara
And Zofia pronounced Zoff-yah (Zosia as a pet name)

U53rn8m3ch8ng3 · 21/07/2025 12:49

My cousin has 3 kids, their first and second names start with the same letter, all of them! I think it's awful but each to their own!
You could use Zena?

Blondiney · 21/07/2025 12:47

Zadie
Zach

Bengenderson · 21/07/2025 12:46

I love matching initial sibling sets!

Hate rhyming names though

PanderBare · 21/07/2025 12:44

I know 2 siblings with names starting with Z. They have other siblings whose names don't start with Z.

GoldDuster · 21/07/2025 11:44

I think if you're worried about it looking cringe and intentional, then more than one child with names that begin with a Z is to be avoided.

It will definitely look intentional. You're in charge of the cringe factor, but I think it's a nope.

We have two matching initials (DF and DD, not siblings). Post and parcels have never been an issue because they have names not initials on them.
