A baby called Dilly just popped up on my feed. Seriously what a bloody stupid name.

When I am King Dilly Dilly you shall be Queen.

Silly billy Dilly has a willy.

Piccadilly line

Short for Daffodil maybe?

It's quite old fashioned but I like it.
The rhyme with willy is nothing.
The 10 gazillion girls called Milly (and boys called Billy) don't seem to worry about that.

Short for Dylis. My 14y old has a friend with this name. They affectionately call her Dilly. Its a totally normal name to them, as are any tbh as kids have a much wider diverse set.of names these days than in our day of all the Sarahs and Daves.

Ive never heard of the willy rhyme? (and you're stretching it a bit with Picadily, cm on)

Are you 5?

ZanzibarIsland · 13/07/2025 11:53

Makes me think of lovely Dilly Carter. I like it

LuckyNumberFive · 13/07/2025 11:50

Nickname for Delilah maybe

Screamingabdabz · 13/07/2025 11:50

It’s short for Dilys. A beautiful name imo.

ChocolateCinderToffee · 13/07/2025 11:49

I thought it was an adjective meaning gormless or similar?!

cariadlet · 13/07/2025 08:47

Dilly the dinosaur.

I can see it as a nickname for Delyth, Dilys or Cordelia. I hope for the child's sake it's not the name on the birth certificate.
