And we live in a nice quaint rural

Max (Maximus) and Tilly (Ottilie) are very mainstream. If people are laughing at those they need to get out a bit more. Perhaps the village is too small and too rural. Small minds and all that.

Ottilie is fine, it’s well within the top 100 girls names so would pair perfectly fine with any popular boys name. I’m not sure what’s with all the random suggestions that sound like parody private school names, do people really name their babies Ptolemy or Ambrose.

Ottilie is in the top 100 girls names in the UK and rising so I think it will pair well with most top 100 boys names. Definitely not something like Ptolemy 😵‍💫
