I've heard did them but it doesn't mean I wouldn't call my daughter Connie Clyde if that was my favourite name. I don't think it's a big deal, but like I said, that's my opinion.

No. I don't like the name Connie to start with and together it sounds too much like Bonnie and Clyde. Also some names immediately conjure up an image and in this case it's the image of a big, brassy fishwife type woman with a bad attitude. The sort of gobby servant in Downton who would bully the scullery maid then run away with the silver and frame someone else for her crime.

Presumably you've heard of them, though.

I think it's one of those things that just seeps into our consciousness. You don't need to know anything about Bonnie and Clyde to recognise the names.

If I asked my 8 or 5 year old who they are they wouldn't care or know to even notice it in school.
They're a bit young to know about bank robbers.

In fact my children probably couldn't even tell you their friends surnames 😂
Given that some names are duplicated in classes or peer groups, they will as they get older.

You could always use Connie as a middle name if you are bothered by it. I do think Connie is such a sweet name.

Your underestimating your children if you think they don't know their friends surnames.
Of course they do, esp in school when registers are taken and children often have the same first names.

As little children they might not know who Bonnie and Clyde are but it's not a reference that is going to die out any time soon.
And you never know when some film maker is going to use it to make a 'based on a true story' film.

I think Bonnie and Clyde is one of those references which won't die out, unfortunately.

They were committing their crimes in the 1930s, nearly 100 years ago, but are still instantly recognisable names - I don't think media will stop referencing them any time soon.

These are all much nicer sounding than Connie Clyde.

I’m sorry. Connie is pretty - I had an aunt Constance - but agree that one immediately thinks Bonnie and Clyde.

Is it the ‘ie’ sound you like? What about Bryony,, Darcy, Sophie, Bethany, Josie, Jenny, Ottilie, Lydie ( Lydia).

Other names that are nice with Clyde? Karmen, Kirsten, Katie, Caroline.

Definitely stick to a name that doesn't start with a B or rhyme with Bonnie or you'll be setting her up for a very tedious life of people making silly jokes about her name.
