How do you like that?

Are your children’s vaccines up to date?

But we think also of Mikhail Baryshnikov. A very handsome and talented man.
Two men much admired in the west. Names come back into fashion after about 80-100 years.

A baby Mikhail could be Mika, Mick, Mikey or Misha.

Romeo is horrific! It’s the name for a lecherous male.

Roman is weird unless you are maybe Russian or Italian in heritage.

How about Yevgraf nn Yuri, or Mikhail nn Misha? The names are known in the west because of Gagarin and Gorbachev. Yevgraf was a character in a famous film.

I like Misha but can't find a full name that would sound not old like Gorbachev...it should probably be Michael! Or Micah? Is it even a name for an adult?

Yeah, Olek , short for Oleksandr is good too!

ClareVoiance · 04/07/2025 21:36

I know some Ukrainians and they are Boris, Oleg, Yuriy and Igor. Oleg seems the best from those, but all are good.

Oh i know! I was trying to fall in love with it....it is just not for me...Alexander sounds like too much for my DH, and in my culture its nickname would be Sasha! And i am just not fond of Sasha...it would never be Alexander really but Alex i guess...

Yes I know about Sasha!
It's never been a favorite nickname of mine either but I know several Serbian men who go by that name it sounds good for a little kid.
I also know Serbian men whose name is Alec, but for me Alex is perfect!

BlackCoffeeAndSugar · 04/07/2025 21:29

I love roman

ClareVoiance · 04/07/2025 21:27

Leonid is fab. Works anywhere and could be Leo or Len.

ClareVoiance · 04/07/2025 21:25

Alexei is a good name.

If you want to play it safe OP, there is always the popular, but not overly so, name Alexander, popular in many cultures including Slavic, Latino, Greek and British.
It has a lot of shortened versions that are really nice it's a very versatile name.
Strong, masculine, easy to spell, easy to say, with lots of various nicknames.

So you need a name in two weeks? No pressure then.
How about:
Amadeo
Armando
Konstantin
Octavian
Levin?

Yes( and i don't find the perfect one, so frustrating....
I love Constantine but in my culture it has a short name Kostya/Kostik for it or in coubtry where i live its Kosta.....its not that beautiful for me...because i was searching for the name that are cross cultural...exist both in my culture and international more or less...

@Tkoko I think you are really over thinking this.
Can you imagine yourself in a park shouting out "Roman...come on we need to go home now" ?
If yes....call your baby Roman.
You like the name. I assume his Dad does. Easy to spell, Easy to pronounce.
There might be other boys called Roman at school with him or he might be the only one.
It's a perfectly nice normal name.

Thanks a lot, i am overwhelmed with the comments, and i do listen to them because i did find it difficult choosing a name, not with my daughter previously but with my son this time.

@JellyBeanSpring25 , OP doesn't appear to want to answer that question.

@Needmorelego , chav isn't a racist term but it is derogatory.

Edited

Which question?

OP posts:
Stefanosgirl · 04/07/2025 20:31

I know a little girl, her parents called her London, it doesn't really have a pretty sound to it I don't think but who am I to judge? It's the child's name the parents are happy with it and the child is happy with it and who else is there to please?
I still think Roman is a nice name I know a little lad called Roman and I also know the father of one of my DHS friend is Roman.
Romeo is a little too poetic is that the right word?
But Roman is a strong masculine name.

Needmorelego · 04/07/2025 20:26

@ClareVoiance unfortunately the way the word has evolved is can be considered both racist and derogatory.
I wish people would just stop using it 🙁
