I agree with some of these. It's amazing how people will sneer at a name just because it was more common in a generation older than them, or even names from their own generation! And then go on to have yet another Isla or Ava.
I am 60 now and still love some names common in my own generation - Sarah, Susan, Deborah, Alison, Louise, Amanda, Claire. And Julie! Love Julie as a pp said. But no people can't possibly have that, can they, it would have to be Juliet or Julia at a pinch. Just because they associate it with older women, the horror! Of course they forget that in France Julie IS the classic form of the name.
From the generation above me, I agree that Pamela is actually a very nice name, also Patricia, Barbara, Mary and of course Sylvia.
But not Beverley, urghh, surely that one will never return!
