Milo is a hugely popular dog name atm. Although tbf, it won’t be in 10-15 years time.
I prefer Leon to Oscar

ChocolateGanache · 30/06/2025 15:13

Oscar

Oscar! It’s popular for a reason.

Yes, and the reason is fashion!

DuchessOfNarcissex · 30/06/2025 14:35

It may be a classic, but the popularity is recent. Babies called Oscar in England & Wales since 1996
You can't really compare it to Daniel and Sarah, because those are biblical names, and they have been use in many countries across the centuries.

Daniel and Sarah fell out of fashion because they had been overused. They've not stopped being nice.

I've nothing against Oscar, it's just that the name would have been unusual in older age groups.

@iwillcallhimgeorge ,yes and that reason is fashion.

Yes it’s fashionable now but it’s also a classic name. My DC’s have quite a few friends called Daniel and Sarah. I went to school with loads of kids with those names in the 70’s / 80’s. They were fashionable then. But they persist as they are also lovely classic names. I’d put Oscar in that category.

I love Oscar and Leon, but would choose Leon due to the popularity of Oscar.

Sandmaennchen · 30/06/2025 09:28

I agree that Myles/Miles is nicer than the original suggestions.

Makingpeace · 30/06/2025 09:02

Miles / Myles instead of Milo. 😍

Too many Oscars. Leon too similar to Leo, too many Leos.

DuchessOfNarcissex · 30/06/2025 09:00

I don't like any of them. Oscar and Leon are ok.

LlynTegid · 30/06/2025 08:46

Leon.

theunbreakablecleopatrajones · 30/06/2025 08:42

Milo, though I slightly prefer Miles

They are all popular and nice but Oscar has really been done to death for years and Leo/Theo is having a massive moment

Ihaveacatwhoisfat · 30/06/2025 06:56

Not Oscar, I know so many Oscars.

JacketPotatoAvecFromage · 30/06/2025 00:13

Oscar x

200skies · 30/06/2025 00:07

Leon

LSTMS30555 · 29/06/2025 23:49

Leon stands the test of time, really strong name, suitable for all ages.

naomicrobiome · 29/06/2025 23:25

MsMiniver · 29/06/2025 22:37

They are all OK but Oscar is very very popular and Milo feels like a pet or cartoon character name a bit. Leon is really clear and strong and suits all ages so Leon wins for me.

Exactly this.

BangersAndGnash · 29/06/2025 23:09

Milo

Sandmaennchen · 29/06/2025 23:08

Oscar is overdone, so Leon or Milo

17caterpillars1mouse · 29/06/2025 23:01

Leon as its a bit different. So many Oscars about and boys names that end in an O

GoodVibesHere · 29/06/2025 22:59

Oscar

AnneMarieW · 29/06/2025 22:53

I feel like Leon might age the best so I’d go for that, but I do like the sound of Oscar despite its popularity. I suspect Milo might date the most - the “O” ending trend for boys is just so strong (there’s a Leo, Theo, Arlo and Milo at DC’s tiny nursery).

Sashya · 29/06/2025 22:41

Milo is a Nestle brand for chocolate milk. Leon is a chain of natural fast food - all over London.

Based on that - Oscar is probably the best. But is very popular - lots of little Oscars around.

BootballJoy · 29/06/2025 22:38

Milo. Oscar also good, dislike Leon.
