I have a Hannah. I think it's a beautiful, classy, timeless name. Middle name Clare.

Sallysinnermum · 18/06/2025 14:27

Beautiful name. I know a 16 year old Hannah and a 90 year old Hannah. Both so lovely. Hannah Amelia is pretty, that's the youngest Hannah's name

I really like Hannah (prefer it to Anna).

LiteralLunatic · 18/06/2025 13:10

I don’t love it but it’s fine 🤷‍♀️ It’s classic but it was very popular from the 80s onwards. It has been working its way down the top 100 for the past 15 years. Despite being a classic, if it is becoming less popular, you might find it is associated with a particular age group, like Sarah, but not in such a negative way as names like Sharon or Tracy IYSWIM?

ERthree · 18/06/2025 13:01

I love the name. I know a Hannah Claire and a Hannah- Jo

Hannah has a softer sound to it.

Yes the Ha is a different sound.

DrLucyVanPelt · 18/06/2025 12:54

I'm a Hannah age 42! I like my name, it's familiar but not overused. It's never been confused with Anna.

I think a variety of middle names go, short or longer, but would avoid another name ending in the aah sound:

Hannah Rose
Hannah Elizabeth
Hannah Jane
Hannah Isobel
Hannah Margaret
Hannah Florence

KIlliePieMyOhMy · 18/06/2025 12:48

Hannah Arora
Hannah Ava
Hannah Elle
Hannah Izzi

muddyford · 18/06/2025 12:46

Lovely.

Hannah Frances
Hannah Judith
Hannah Maria
Hannah Maureen
Hannah Jane
Hannah Clare

CaramelEmporium · 18/06/2025 12:41

Never been confused with Anna either.

CaramelEmporium · 18/06/2025 12:41

I have a tween Hannah. She’s the only one in the school. Obviously I think it’s a lovely name. Classic.

Thank you. I do quite like Anna too. A couple of comments on here as given me a seed of doubt about Hannah because I can imagine people may end up thinking it’s Anna anyway.

That's funny, that's what my auntie said in 1971! 😁

But I think enough people are familiar with the name Hannah now that that wouldn't happen much. Apart from the people who never say their 'H' s I suppose.

So if Hannah is what you love I would just go with it. It's a nice simple name for a little girl to learn to write too.

poolcabana · 18/06/2025 12:35

I have a friend who called her lovely daughter Hannah. It’s a beautiful name. She never had anyone confuse it with Anna and was never called Anna. If you love the name I would use it.

TakeMyLifeAndLetItBe · 18/06/2025 12:35

It's a gorgeous name, I have a toddler one 😁 not met any other girls the same age with the same name.

MissedItByThisMuch · 18/06/2025 12:34

It’s lovely - one of those timeless names that don’t imply any age for its holder. I’m in the prefer Anna (which I think of as similarly timeless) camp, but you clearly aren’t so my preference is irrelevant.

Sunshinegalhere · 18/06/2025 12:32

Pemba · 18/06/2025 12:30

I do like it, but I like Anna more - which is not 'older lady' at all, it's timeless. It's generally liked a lot when suggested in this section.

Hannah has been popular for years, probably less popular right now. I think maybe it peaked in the 80s. I was born in the 60s and didn't go to school with any Hannahs. However I can remember my auntie, pregnant in the early 70s, telling my mum she was considering Hannah for the baby. She would have been one of the first!

(said cousin is 51 now and her parents went with Victoria in the end, very 70s!)

Thank you. I do quite like Anna too. A couple of comments on here as given me a seed of doubt about Hannah because I can imagine people may end up thinking it’s Anna anyway.
