Delilah

They aren’t real names

Or incontinence pads.

Or a petite size sofa for a smaller room: a sofietta.

Sophelia sounds like a collision of Sophia and Ophelia.

Can you not just go for Sophia op? Sophia Rose is lovely.

Lovecatsandwater · 28/06/2025 22:42

I do think they sound like sanitary pads, and very chavvy.

ZiggyZowie · 28/06/2025 22:31

Axel

Hazelmaybe · 28/06/2025 22:30

Ophelia?or something more serious sounding like Harriet which makes Rose sound more like a surname?

MissScarletInTheBallroom · 28/06/2025 21:57

One of my ancestors was called Josephine Rose, which I think is lovely.

Sophie Smith Rose (then people will know Sophie is her first name)

Bagvir · 28/06/2025 20:23

Lillie Rose is my suggestion

Needspaceforlego · 21/06/2025 09:48

I don't think you want something to flowery or it will sound like a type of rose from a garden centre Sophelia Rose, reminds me of Delias which makes it sound far to flowery.

I'd stick with a traditional English sounding name or even something Scottish like

Fiona
Lauren
Catherine
Sophie

I was going to suggest Sophia Rose but that ends up sounding like Sophi-a-Rose (from the dead, bed, couch etc)

My children have the Rose surname, my girl is called Anna. I will warn you, EVERYONE will think it's a hyphenated name, it's quite annoying for her. Flower names are out obviously, as I think someone said. I liked Sophia actually, and Alice.

This!!! This is what I’m thinking it’s so hard!

Seraphina Rose is lovely.

Came here to say this - seems in keeping with the style of first name you like OP.

Ok I get the vibe is that people hate it 🤣 I just finding it hard to name a girl with our surname. I’m worried that most names are what people double barrel with rose so I wanted something longer

I think as long as it's not another noun (or possibly a verb or adverb) you have a fairly wide choice, but I'm not mad about your initial suggestions either, sorry. I do agree it sounds best with long names with an a ending though: Seraphina, Georgina, Aurelia, Isabella, that sort of thing.

Laralee · 19/06/2025 10:12

I think you might be searching for a ‘feminine’ vibed name. Jessica, Lisa, Olivia, Charlotte, Mia or Ava. Do any of those appeal to you?

They sound like sanitary pads...

Wish we still had the laughing emoji!

Els1e · 19/06/2025 09:10

My first thought was Virginia Rose

roshi42 · 19/06/2025 08:59

Like Sophelia. And pp suggestion of Sophina.

Sophietta not so much... reminds me of vienetta!

Snorlaxo · 19/06/2025 02:09

I think that the only names that don’t work are flowers eg Daisy Rose, colours Eg Scarlett Rose or names that sound like a paint colour eg April Rose.

I agree with Sofietta sounding like a brand of tissue or toilet paper and Sophie /Sophia being better. I’ve seen Seraphina suggested on a few threads?

Obeseandashamed · 19/06/2025 02:05

I have relatives with the surname Rose. We have Sophia Rose, Amelia Rose, Layla Rose, Felicity Rose and Gabriella Rose. The names you suggest sound like an amalgamation of others.

Sofietta of Sophelia?

There are literally thousands of better names, and most of them won't yield the nickname 'Sofa'.

SkiAndTravelTheWorldWithMyDog · 19/06/2025 00:07

Emily Rose
