Hiya, we are expecting a baby girl this month and still have a very long list which needs narrowing down. Please can I have your opinions on our list below.
Our surname begins with F and ends with an ee sound, middle name will be Elizabeth.
Freya
Lily
Grace
Eleanor
Beatrice
Abigail
Rebecca
Naomi
Anna

I would say Naomi but I think two ee endings can be quite twee

Other than that I think they are all overdone except Rebecca which is great but I think Becca/Becky/Bex are all pretty awful and Abigail which is a bit lumpen.

So Beatrice is probably least overused of the rest so I’d go for that.

RusticChips · 16/06/2025 17:38

Beatrice or Freya

RandomUsernameHere · 16/06/2025 16:49

Freya and Abigail are my favourites. I love alliterated names so that’s a plus for Freya, and I think that Abi/Abby is also a really nice shortened name. Both names are strong but also attractive sounding in my opinion.

LlynTegid · 16/06/2025 16:28

My opinion is that they are all the conventional spelling of the names you list, which I agree with. Unusual spellings or unusual names gives a child a lifetime of having to correct people and makes unkind comments more likely.

KayEmAy · 16/06/2025 16:27

Lovely list! My top three would be:

  1. Freya
  2. Lily
  3. Abigail
TheMummyJade · 16/06/2025 06:18

My favourites are Eleanor, Anna, and Naomi. Good luck mumma x

Mumofgirls2017 · 15/06/2025 22:46

Anna ❤️

froglet99 · 15/06/2025 22:29

I like Freya and Anna. Both were on our list. Beatrice is ok but much prefer Bea.

ChocolateCinderToffee · 15/06/2025 21:59

Elizabeth. overused
Freya nice
Lily overused
Grace overused
Eleanor overused
Beatrice nice
Abigail nice
Rebecca overused
Naomi nice
Anna best

Timeforyetanothernamechange · 15/06/2025 20:53

I love Anna. That was top of our list for soon to arrive DD but we can't use it. Also love Eleanor and Freya.

I think go with your gut. I'm testing names by imagining myself saying things like "DH could you go and get [name's] bottle etc" and I've found I have quite a strong yes/no (mostly no) reaction when I do that so it's helped narrow down choices.

mummysmagicmedicine · 15/06/2025 20:43

Freya- perfect
Lily- love and not too common any more.
Grace- classic and not too common any more
Eleanor- not the biggest fan
Beatrice- not a fan of the “beer” part

Abigail
Rebecca
Naomi
Anna
i think as a bit dated🙈

MissScarletInTheBallroom · 15/06/2025 19:30

Anna

cardboardvillage · 15/06/2025 19:29

Eleanor shortened to Nell not Ellie?

RubyHedgehog · 15/06/2025 19:19

All of these are quite nice. Keep in mind some of them are likely to be shortened.

Freya -beginning to seem faddy
Lily -has been massively popular for years
Grace -a bit boring
Eleanor -will become Ellie
Beatrice -👍🏼
Abigail -will become Abi
Rebecca -will become Becca, Becky, or Becks
Naomi -whether you prefer NAYomi or NIGHomi, she will be called both
Anna -👍🏼

Pemba · 14/06/2025 21:23

I love Anna, Eleanor or Abigail.

I do quite like all your names though. But I would say probably don't have Lily - it's pretty but it's been really overused for a few years now.

Viviennemary · 14/06/2025 20:48

They are all nice names. I like Grace and Elizabeth best.

JDM625 · 14/06/2025 20:47

What is the middle name and how many syllables in your surname? Your 1st names range from 1 syllable to 4. I like them all, but find Anne rather boring.

In general, a shorter 1st name flows better with a multi syllable surname, and vice versa. Have you checked the initials don't spell something odd? NAF, OFF, BOF, REF etc?

BeautifulPeopleGo · 14/06/2025 20:32

Freya, Lily. Grace, boring and overused. Loads of them. Eleanor is nice but there are just so many Ellies.. I work with 4 and know more Eleanors.

I don’t like Beatrice at all but I do like the rest.

AnneMarieW · 14/06/2025 17:45

I can’t resist alliterative names as they tend to be very lyrical and memorable- so I’d personally pick Freya with your surname.

If the surname wasn’t in consideration then just as standalone name, I like Eleanor and Anna the best as can’t- go- wrong classics - and Eleanor Elizabeth sounds especially cool imo.

Nothing wrong with pretty Lily or elegant Beatrice either though (I just prefer the other 3 choices).

But I find Rebecca is a touch 80’s to me, Grace a bit dull and I’m not as keen on the sound of Abigail or Naomi compared to your other picks.

Emanwenym · 14/06/2025 16:59

Freya - don't like, overused
Lily - not keen,overused
Grace - not keen, overused
Eleanor - too many Ellas and Ellies
Beatrice - like
Abigail - like but she'll be Abi
Rebecca - ok, bit know loads of ones in their 20s
Naomi - too many variations in how people say it
Anna - best on your list

Assuming the surname is something like Farley, the - y names won't sound great, and Freya Farley is too much of a tongue-twister.

MrsPositivity1 · 14/06/2025 16:44

Anna

BootballJoy · 14/06/2025 16:32
