mason is terrible. Your Dh's names are all bad (is he struggling with hormones). Sid is fabulous and Charlie is great too ( but there I am prejudiced). Preston isn't great either. Posh pretty much did for naming babies after places....

Choose your favorite and make DH go and lie down in a dark room for a while.

Nancy66 · 21/05/2008 17:44

I don't like Mason either - Sheryl Gascoigne's kid was called that. her others were Bianca and Reagan....Mason goes with those if you catch my drift.

Partly depends on the surname. And the options - especially your dp's - seem to be mainly surnames as 1st names, so you need to be careful. I know 1 baby boy with 3 forenames who sounds like a law firm.

I'm afraid Mason for me just means really awful character in the woodenest of wooden soaps, Santa Barbara.....

Arthur, Charlie and Jack are good.
Any reason to think about names from specific countries, eg Scottish or Irish? Again all depends on surname, family history.

ElizabethBeresford · 21/05/2008 16:17

Lots of names with there own adjectives here. Arthurian, Dominican, Gregorian.
are there any more?

LavendersBlueDillyDilly · 20/05/2008 22:05

Charlie
Arthur
and Dominic are good.

All others bad (some very)

How about Gregory?

BigBadMouse · 20/05/2008 22:04

but Mason has been around as a first name for ages (although for longer in the US and UK .

I think it sounds too much like Jason though I just don;t get the chav bit

ElizabethBeresford · 20/05/2008 22:01

I think sometimes a name which seems to have sprung from nowhere can seem a little less than classic. You have to read between the lines here. I'm trying not to be egregious - it's an ongoing battle and there's no medication.

BigBadMouse · 20/05/2008 21:59

Can someone please tell me why Mason is Chavy? There aren't many chavs down here in Cornwall so I genuinely don't get it- plenty of Jethro's down here though....now there's a name!

misdee · 20/05/2008 21:55

Bernard

LissyD · 20/05/2008 21:54

Whats wrong with Preston? It's an ace place! Place names aren't the best for childrens names though, a bit chavvy.

AbbeyA · 20/05/2008 21:48

I only like Jack. Charlie is OK.
Don't like DHs at all. I have never thought of Preston as being a very attractive place to be named after.

mustrunmore · 20/05/2008 21:47

DO NOT LET DH HAVE THE FINAL DECISION

Vivace · 20/05/2008 21:46

Dominic from your husband's list, Arthur from yours. The rest of his choices are a bit rough.
Really, it isn't spelled Domonic. Never has been, never should be. It looks like Demonic, which you really don't want.

lovebeingmummy · 20/05/2008 21:45

Dominic reminds me of domino's, i cant bare it!! Sorry xx

ElizabethBeresford · 20/05/2008 21:43

8 hours at Preston Railway Station. Wow. That sounds like a b horror movie.

I would go for Jason over Mason. Jason at least has a bit of augernaut (sp?) about it. Mason is a bit

But obviously the best choice would be Dominic.

kitsmummy · 20/05/2008 21:43

I'll buck the trend. I hate Mason, it's bloody awful, the ultimate chav. I like Charlie and Arthur though.

BigBadMouse · 20/05/2008 21:32

Hang on a minute!!!! How come everyone is saying Mason is nice now. Last time I read that name on here it was being slated....ooohhhhh you're all soooooo fickle!

I don't like Preston, was stranded at Preston Railway station for 8 hours years ago and still haven't recovered so I am biased I guess.

Favourites from your lists are
Charlie and Mason. With the others I think you'd need to see your DS before knowing it was right for them (no idea why I think that though )

ElizabethBeresford · 20/05/2008 21:17

Ha ha wt. I see a forked tongue and a trident.

I tried to get somebody to call their child Victor a while ago. Nobody would listen to me.

Can you add Victor to your list of names OP? I love it so much. It's the new Oscar.

lovebeingmummy · 20/05/2008 20:35

I think Mason is the best name of them all, as its different in my opinion xx

janeite · 20/05/2008 20:21

Charlie and Jack get my vote. Austin is awful sorry, as is Ashton. Your husband's choices are baaaaaaad, sorry.

MadBadandDangeroustoKnow · 20/05/2008 20:18

Hulababy read my mind.

Nancy66 · 20/05/2008 20:14

Your husband's choices are a bit chav.

I prefer yours with the exception of Austin an Ashton.

mustsleep · 20/05/2008 19:32

you see i knew my list was better

i like stanley dh isn't keen
