We already have an Ava.

Our other options are:

  • Callie
  • Isla
  • Mabel
  • Erin
  • Elle

I don't think they are too similar at all.
And Maeve is definitely my favourite from your list.

I really love Ava, despite its trendiness. I’d be tempted to use just May instead of Maeve because Ava and May sound like such a nicely matched sibset to me - but still out of all your options I like Maeve the best. I don’t think the similarities in sound matters personally as they still sound distinct enough not to be confused with each other which is the important thing.

But if it is a huge concern to you then of your list my 2nd choice would be Erin. Callie, Elsie, Elle etc are cute but they are nicknames - Ava is a complete name in its own right and it would be nice imo for her sister to have the same (and I personally find Isla super trendy and Mabel is still too elderly lady for me).

To similar to me too, with the repeated 'Ay' sound. I love Erin, would make a lovely sibling pair. Also quite like Callie.

Yes, too similar. Callie, Erin and Elsie go better . Elle fine as well

I love Callie.

Moreteaandchocolate · 22/05/2025 06:51

I wouldn’t use Ava and Maeve for siblings myself, but I know families with equally as similar sibling names and no one bats an eyelid - I think how well sibling names go together is more important to the parents than the kids or anyone else. It’s more important to choose a name you love.

From your other ideas I love Mabel or Erin best. Elle and Callie are quite nice. Isla is lovely but having a”moment” and is everywhere round here.

Too similar and hard to say

Iloveshoes123 · 22/05/2025 06:49

I don’t think they sound alike op, I think they go lovely together
I don’t like Mabel.
From your list Callie is lovely.

Mightyhike · 22/05/2025 06:46

I would say too similar. I like Erin best of your list.

Trundleloop · 22/05/2025 06:46

Yes. The assonance in Mabel I think also too similar. Erin is great though.

cramptramp · 22/05/2025 06:44

No, they aren’t similar at all. They are both lovely.

Firsttimebabymummy · 22/05/2025 06:42

I think Mabel is lovely and pairs best, followed by Erin.

Missywelliot · 22/05/2025 06:40

I think Mabel goes best.

Mmmkaay · 22/05/2025 06:35

Ava and Elsie is lovely.

BoleynMemories13 · 22/05/2025 06:34

Yes, the repeated 'ay' sound makes them run in to each. Ava and Erin is a lovely combination.

Roo0611 · 22/05/2025 04:13

Or Elsie. We do also like this one!
