Should we call our baby girl Isla or Sabrina? We’re having trouble deciding and would really appreciate opinions please! 😊

Love Sabrina and also Serena.

Busted2006 · 25/05/2025 15:32

I prefer Sabrina but love the suggestion of Serena

StrikeForever · 25/05/2025 09:39

Choose a name you like, but since you have asked for opinions, I think they both sound like Disney characters. If forced to choose, I’d go with Isla.

theunbreakablecleopatrajones · 25/05/2025 09:36

Sabrina - it’s a fab name and the teenage witch is a cool association

Saskia is also nice

Isla is nice but there are 60 million of them, so no one appreciates it any more.

Pyjamatimenow · 25/05/2025 06:47

Sabrina

BunnyRuddington · 25/05/2025 06:39

Way too many Isla’s around here.

AnneMarieW · 24/05/2025 23:59

Sabrina of the two. Isla is one of those names that is very 2000’s - I’ve never met one older than her twenties, so I think it may date. Whereas I’m not sure Sabrina has ever even made the Top 100 (“teenage witch” references or not) and it’s a classical name.

cordelia16 · 24/05/2025 17:14

I voted for Sabrina. I fell in love with that name from the Audrey Hepburn film.

sorenhall · 20/05/2025 19:21

Both of these names were on my list for DD so we have similar taste OP. DD’s name is Zoya which is the Eastern European/Persian version of Zoe (probably doesn’t help you).

People saying sabrina the teenage witch the only reason we all think that is because where old
Babies being born now will have no clue what that is as its 30 years old. Isla is a pretty name buts it's so overused

Agree with this.

Sabrina. Without doubt.
I know lots of Isla's. And they get lost amongst all the Orlagh's and Bella's as well.

Agree!

Firsttimebabymummy · 20/05/2025 19:06

I voted Sabrina.

I do like Isla but I work in a nursery and we have lots, always referred to as Isla-surname now.

Sabrina is 'different' but recognisable which I really like! No spelling or pronunciation issues whilst being more uncommon.

CheeseWisely · 20/05/2025 16:38

We have an almost one year old and we know at least 3 Islas. Haven’t met any Sabrinas so I voted for it. I do like as suggested above Serena.

Caveat: We gave our DS a top 10 name, if you’d like to take the into consideration when I moan how popular Isla is 😂

Sabrina.

It’s the name of the goddess of the river Severn.

ForAquaMember · 20/05/2025 16:28

Sabrina is lovely but due to Sabrina Carpenter I wouldn’t go for it. It’s starting to become a name of interest to call your child if that bothers you. Isla is also very popular

Both are pretty names though

Sailorstripe · 20/05/2025 16:24

Isla is very common. I prefer Serena to Sabrina.

Moreteaandchocolate · 20/05/2025 16:22

Isla is lovely, if you don’t mind its popularity: Sabrina is a teenage witch and a bit harsh sounding to me. Also, it’s 3 syllables with no obvious nice nn.

Emanwenym · 20/05/2025 16:00

usis -> is
Sabrina to me is Kate Jackson - Wikipedia

Witch names are Samantha and Tabitha.Smile

Feelingstrange2 · 20/05/2025 11:41

Isla.

Sabrina was a witch

But this is how it becomes a self-fulfilling prophecy. Nobody objects to boys being called Harry. Because it’s a common enough name that people don’t automatically think Harry Potter. Maybe if Sabrina was used more often, there wouldn’t be the automatic association of the teenage witch.

And yes, I voted Sabrina. Wink

Sabina/Sabine is nice.

Isla usis nice enough but there are so many Islas and Lilas.

Pemba · 20/05/2025 12:35

I voted Sabrina, because I agree with a pp that Isla, though it's fine, is indeed 'overdone and a bit nothing-y'. Not another Isla please. Up to you though obviously.

Have you considered Serena? Similar sounds to Sabrina but even prettier imo.

RuthW · 20/05/2025 12:17

There are hundreds of Islas.

Overthebow · 20/05/2025 11:43

I voted Sabrina because there are so many Isla’s at the moment.
