We've decided on a middle name - but how to spell it ?!?!

We both love the name Anabel so it's in! However I have no idea how to spell it as there are so many ways.

MN jury, which one do you think is best? What is the most regular way of spelling it??

  1. Annabelle (too poncy?)
  2. Annabell
  3. Anabel (not finished??)
  4. Anabell
  5. Anabelle (weird?)

I'm going nuts trying to guess the surname now. As long as it isn't Spankbottom you should be alright

onebatmother · 20/05/2008 13:24

No, lovely, lollipop. Elizabeth is beautiful and Annabel brings a bit of girliness, ikswim. V good together.

lollipopmother · 20/05/2008 13:22

Oh sod it, I thought I'd never do this, but this is going to be her full name:

Elizabeth Annabel (and then the surname starts with an Sp).

Ponce-o-rama or not too bad?

I couldn't have Arabella - Arabella Figg is the batty old squib in Harry Potter, she is acutally an hilarious character, but she's also a cat lady and I don't want to name my baby after a cat lady, she will probably turn into one without my help but it seems a little mean to put her on the path so early!

I sit next to an Ana at work so I think I got a bit confussed there.

I think Annabelle is a little poncy so I'm with Brassica (or whatever she chooses to namechange to!) on that one.

I think Annabel is probably the way to go (thank you Squonk - leader of the pack!!), I don't want her getting asked how to spell it all the time, that's why I made the post, as I certainly don't know!

edam · 20/05/2008 13:17

The night club is actually called Annabel's, btw - so another point for the usual spelling!

VintageGardenia · 20/05/2008 13:14

Nope don't you remember Mortimer and Arabel?

VictorianSqualor · 20/05/2008 13:11

Arabel? I've only ever heard that name as Arabella, not Arabel, I don't like it without the 'ella' bit, love Arabella though.

yomellamoHelly · 20/05/2008 13:10

Annabel too. Pretty name.

zazen · 20/05/2008 13:09

I quite like Arabel

but would spell Anabelle with the belle on the end as it's beautiful

Anastasia is lovely also?

Christiania · 20/05/2008 13:08

I thought it was spelt Chalmondelay.
or Fruitcake.

There's no need for correlation these days.

VictorianSqualor · 20/05/2008 13:08

Is it Sequoia?

In real life I mean. I'm perhaps sensitive about Annabelle not because I dislike it but because it might be considered a bit hooray. Maybe?

onebatmother · 20/05/2008 13:05

no your vegetable name I mean. Swedes! (your real name isn't Hooray, it's lovely)

onebatmother · 20/05/2008 13:04

(sorry for hijack lollipop)

BrassicaNapusNapobrassica · 20/05/2008 13:03

I'm a bit sensitive about it as I have a bit of a hooray name.

onebatmother · 20/05/2008 13:03

lol Brass (you see - even the diminutive is all Roman and vulgar)...
Please come back to the middle of the road, and bring your earthy name with you.
Yes I did notice Threadie's back with her extra w. Where is she?
I want to suggest Threadwerm. It's got a gutteral germanic-ness which might appeal.

onebatmother · 20/05/2008 13:01

root veg Fio. (hope not out of turn, don't think it was a hidey name-change, more a fun thing)
