Choosing a baby name, thoughts on Caleb!?

It's our first baby and just wanting to put the feelers out on the name Caleb.
With not being in the 'mums club' before, and not having many friends with little ones, we're not really knowing what's popular out there (other than baby lists) but it's been on our radar since finding out we are having a boy 💙
Other names we are still considering:

Jamie
Noah
Greyson
Dale
Alfie

Thanks 😊

Mind you Caleb is a good boy now and works hard on Clarkson’s Farm.

There is , however, something about grown men who like ripping things up with tractors that makes me suspect they knocked over a fair few supermarket displays of toilet tissue as a toddler.

I can vouch for this kind of behaviour 😅

Carouselfish · 27/05/2025 20:28

It's a bit too close to Caylen or other varieties. I know Caleb is actually more of a name though. But also the 'leb' part makes me think of someone pouting...
It's quite cowboy. What about Wyatt?

I BET he was a supermarket kid!

I predict a spike in Calebs - does nobody watch Clarkson’s Farm?

Thank goodness someone got there!

CapitalAtRisk · 27/05/2025 18:39

After Kaleb on Clarkson's Farm, it going to become even more popular. But you might be OK with that!

BCBird · 27/05/2025 18:36

Know of one boy called Caleb. Like Noah. Jamie I always associate with a child and not a grown man. James perhaps but Jamie when a child with the option to revert to James as an adult?

@KayEmAy , you just did!

I really like Caleb, I think it's super underrated! I also think you can't go wrong with Jaime :)

Purpleknickers · 27/05/2025 18:02

Please tell me your son is called Caleb! 🤣

I'm saying nothing 🤣🤣🤣🤣

MaloryJones · 27/05/2025 17:47

I like it.
I was going to name one of mine that but was vetoed 😄

Yes I’m sorry I really don’t have good mental images ( I guess call them prejudice really) of Calebs.

In fact it’s possibly one of my least favourite boy names. It seems to me to be what my mum calls a “ supermarket name” : a name you hear being hollered at the supermarket by a worn out mum at her unruly child.

I like Jamie but prefer James, and don’t dislike Alfie.

Edited

Supermarket name 😂brilliant! I agree it is.

I dislike it...find it a bit clunky to say. Lots of strong consonant sounds.

Tinytigertail · 27/05/2025 17:44

I really like Caleb, it was on my baby name list 20 years ago.

I taught a Caleb around 2007 in Yr 2. One of the most annoying children ever 🤣 Also very bright and probably went on to do great things. If he'd been ordinary, I'd have forgotten him by now.

It's not for me, somehow makes me think of Cain and Abel. How about Conrad?

It's nothing to do with Cain and Abel, John Steinbeck notwithstanding.

user1492757084 · 23/05/2025 11:20

Caleb is handsome and I really like Dale.
Others ..
Colm
Colin
David
