Hey, I was pretty much set on calling our baby Darcie if it’s a girl. And my mother in law suggested Delilah which now I also love. ???

We have both in our family, Delilah is my favourite. She’ll probably be a lilah when she’s older.

D'Arcy (or possibly Darcy), not Darcie. She'd be spelling it out forever with that weird spelling.

She'll be spelling D'Arcy out, and the ' will cause problems on forms. Darcy or Darcey are easier spellings.

I personally love the name Delilah, Lilah for short. I equally hate the name Darcy. I've heard it screamed at seemingly every little girl on my council estate for the last 10 years. Darcayyyyy! So to me it's not only ubiquitous but quite frankly chavvy too.

It never ceases to amaze me that people call their children Delilah - clearly they haven’t read the Bible! I quote the Encyclopaedia Britannica- “She was a Philistine who, bribed to entrap Samson, coaxed him into revealing that the secret of his strength was his long hair, whereupon she took advantage of his confidence to betray him to his enemies. Her name has since become synonymous with a voluptuous, treacherous woman.”

Probably the same people that would call their child Pandora!

Delilah is an awful name to call your daughter if you care about the meaning.

Personally I'd go with Darcie,but that's only because I think if I named my daughter Delilah,she'd be forever having people singing THAT song at her! And if you are familiar with the tale of Sampson and Delilah,you'd know that Delilah really wasn't very nice!
