DH and I seem to have different tastes in names and we have finally compiled a list of some we both like. Would like to know other people’s impressions of them. Help us narrow them down!

Phillipa
Ottilie
Candace
Pandora
Henrietta
Juliet
Clementine

Juliet, followed by Pandora

Escapingagain · 15/05/2025 21:55

Juliet is pretty. Henrietta if it was Etta would be lovely. I knew a Clemmie and it suited her.

ZiggyZowie · 15/05/2025 21:26

Pandora

LiquoriceAllsorts2 · 15/05/2025 21:21

I like Ottilie or Philippa with Pippa for short or Henrietta with Hetty for short

LimitedBrightSpots · 15/05/2025 21:02

You could use Panda as a nickname for Pandora which is quite cute imo 😂.

Pandora

What if she opens a box or needs to wear some jewellery? 😂😂

Frateletheboss · 15/05/2025 20:50

Juliet the rest she will most likely be teased for having a "posh" name

MrsSkylerWhite · 15/05/2025 20:49

Ottilie is sublime.

Like Candice (not heard of Candace?))

Rainbowcat99 · 15/05/2025 20:47

I like Ottilie, Juliet (but I prefer it spelt Juliette) and Pandora.

ninjahamster · 15/05/2025 20:45

Love Ottilie and Henrietta.

Wafflesforbreakfast · 15/05/2025 20:44

Ottilie is the nicest on your list.

Henrietta, Juliet and Clementine are okay

I really don't like Phillipa.

Itonlytakesone · 15/05/2025 10:53

Pandora

SummertimeFeelingFine · 15/05/2025 10:49

I love Ottilie.

Don't like Pandora at all (for obvious reasons).

Of the others I'd probably pick Clementine.

okydokethen · 15/05/2025 10:47

I like Juliette but not the others

WaltzingWaters · 15/05/2025 09:19

Juliet 100%

Really dislike Pandora and Henrietta.

Ottilie is nice but very popular right now.

What a good list! I like all of them apart from Pandora.
Juliet, Henrietta and Phillipa are especially lovely imo.

Moreteaandchocolate · 14/05/2025 18:30

I love Philippa nn Pippa and considered it for DD2.
I also like Henrietta nn Hettie / Ettie.
Candace is quite nice too and a bit more unusual.
Juliet is ok, a little dated maybe.
Ottilie I quite like but I think it’s too trendy and may date badly.
Clementine isn’t my taste but I don’t hate it.
Pandora is my least favourite because of the “Pandoras box” association.

BeFunnyCyanRaven · 14/05/2025 18:14

Juliet is very cute

Ottilie and Phillipa are lovely - Tillie/Ottie/Pippa really nice nicknames too.

Juliet is sweet too, as long as she doesn’t get called Julie 🥴

Not keen on any of your other options.

There's nothing wrong with Julie though, it's actually a really pretty name. I wouldn't use it though because of reactions like yours. And it would make a much prettier shortening of Juliet than 'Jools' which could be seen as quite masculine. Why is Juliet magically acceptable but Julie not?

It's all because it was very popular here in the 60s, so it's therefore associated in your minds with older women in their 50s and 60s. The horror.
But to me, Julies were my contemporaries. My first memory of a Julie was the blonde little girl 2 doors down, and playing in our gardens in the summer. Nice memories.

And, not to forget, in France Julie IS the classic form of the name, here that would be Julia.
Julie needs bringing back, and I am sure it will be one day.

Bollindger · 14/05/2025 18:04

I heard one the other day.
lavender. I just love it.

CarpetKnees · 14/05/2025 17:57

Juliet is the only one I like.

Ohwelljusttoday · 14/05/2025 17:43

Juliet ( and when she is older and wants to change it up, she can be Jools

BrunchBarBandit · 14/05/2025 17:30

I like Philippa and Juliet

Emanwenym · 14/05/2025 17:29
