Help with baby girl name

So our baby is due very soon, we have a shortlist of names, but still can't pick one, for me nothing seems quite right, but maybe I just need to choose one and get used to it. Our family is also mixed heritage, Arabic, Irish and Turkish so looking for a name that will work across cultures.
So far our shortlist/ long list is

Farah
Lana
Seren
Arel
Zadie
Emel
Tulin

What do you think, and open to ideas. Thank you ☺️

Thanks everyone for your help. We went with Farah in the end, Farah Samar ( pronounced similar to Summer) we loved the meaning of Farah - Joy, although I really loved Elif in the end as well, but my husband thought she might be teased when she's older.

Beautiful name and a huge congratulations.

metta · 20/06/2025 21:43

Love Farah, Seren and LOVE Zadie

KayEmAy · 20/06/2025 19:51

Adore Seren!

Farah and Zadie are lovely. How about Zehra? Hannah is nice also. Might you like Rebekah? Not really Arabic I know, but popular in many areas of the world.

Mamadontpreach · 13/05/2025 21:24

We went with Leyla as a nod to Turkish grandparents...means dark as night/similar I think. She's blonde and blue eyed - but I love her name ❤️

The names you've listed are all lovely though. Farah is really pretty.

LadyQuackBeth · 13/05/2025 20:55

They are lovely, except perhaps Emel, which I think suffers from there being so many Emily, Emilia type names that it sounds unfinished.

Farah is particularly nice.
Malak?

Farah- I think is beautiful
Lana- went to school with one and she was teased because of what it is backwards🙈
Seren- gorgeous
Arel- a bit bland compared to the other beautiful names on your list
Zadie- I like but not as beautiful as Farah or Seren
Emel- not for me
Tulin- not for me

I think Farah is absolutely beautiful and so is Seren. The other names are nice but don’t meet up to these xx

Lana would have been my first pick our of these until you said that! How have I never noticed that before 🙃

Tortielady · 13/05/2025 18:04

You've got some really pretty names there, especially Farah. Hannah/Hana is beautiful too and has cross-cultural appeal - it's popular with people from at least three of the religious groups based in the UK. But the suggestion to wait till you meet your little girl is a good one. You might decide on a name, take one look at her and think no, she's Amira or Yasmin (or a variant.)

RuthW · 13/05/2025 17:47

I like Zadie from your list.

My daughters are called Maya ( Mya/Mayah/Myah are other spellings ) & Sara
we wanted an Arabic/English name. Farrah is lovely I also like Aliyah x

Maya and Sarah are beautiful and sound nice together. Yes, looking for something with some crossover. I really like Hannah, but not sure if it's too popular?

I have a friend whose daughter is Seren and they are Turkish
it’s a nice name

Oh, that's good to know! Do you know what spelling?

Zara and Yasmin are lovely and we also really like Layla, Lena and Nour, but we have all these names already in our family or close friends.

Farah is the nicest, I also love Lana and Seren.

Have you considered Yasmin/Yasemin/Yasmine? My sons girlfriend is Yasemin and she is half Turkish half English. It's a really lovely name.

Mumofgirls2017 · 13/05/2025 14:57

I love Seren and Zadie

SallySummerPop · 13/05/2025 14:45

Thank you so much for all your suggestions and feed back, it's so helpful. Seren is a lovely name, it's meant to be a Turkish name too, but looked it up in a Turkish dictionary and it said it means boom! Haha,
The Welsh name Seren and its meaning are lovely, but we're not Welsh, so maybe a bit more left field, if it's not also Turkish. We really liked Lana but were a bit worried about reverse spelling too
Farah has probably been our front runner so lovely to hear lots of people like it too. Reyna is also lovely 😍

I like Farrah the best from your list. I think the names Yasmin and Sofia are lovely if you wanted a Turkish inspired name that also works in the UK

Moreteaandchocolate · 13/05/2025 12:55

Lana and Seren are my favourites- both are gorgeous names. Zadie and Farah are also quite nice.

nolenek · 13/05/2025 12:55

Irish Turkish Heritage here as well We were adamant on a chosen name until she was born, that name went out the window 🤣 we chose Reyna. can’t imagine her being anything else and cringe at the original name I’d say wait till she’s here then decide

MellowPinkDeer · 13/05/2025 12:46

Without knowing your surname it’s a bit trickier but I like Farah the best - good luck!
