We can’t have Lily or Olivia so thought this could be a nice alternative. Thoughts please

Don’t like it, can’t specify why but it does have a vibe of feminine hygiene products. What about Vilja?

LadyKenya · 26/04/2025 16:25

I have always liked the name, since I saw the film, The Ten Commandments years ago.

RosesAndHellebores · 26/04/2025 16:09

Laura, Lydia?

PassivAggressivHaus · 26/04/2025 15:29

@HonoriaBulstrode ,Lily the Pink.

Jazzythegingerninja · 26/04/2025 15:18

My eldest is 13 and there are a few Lilias around her age. I think it was because of the dancer on Strictly that point. I like it. Almost like a softer version of Lydia

HonoriaBulstrode · 26/04/2025 13:24

Layla
Lola

Getting a 1970 playlist going here.
Going to have Lo-lo-lo-lo-Lola in my head all day now.

Annialisting · 26/04/2025 12:47

Lola

Depends why you can't use Lily or Olivia? If it's because they're already in your close circle, then having a Lilia may be a bit too much (especially as you say you have Lilah in the family too).

Personally I find Lilia a bit of a mouthful.

TheeNotoriousPIG · 26/04/2025 11:38

Lilia is the Latin translation for 'lily'. I have only ever come across it on an author (Lilia Tarawa) and a Lithuanian child who was in the news some time ago.

Objectively, I think that it is a nice name and it's a bit more interesting than Lily, Ellie, etc. As someone who wasn't around in the 1980's, I've never heard of it being a sanitary towel brand until now!

PassivAggressivHaus · 26/04/2025 11:29

Catrionablocke · 25/04/2025 22:49

That's what it immediately brings to mind for me but I don't think they were around after the 1970s so nobody young will remember them.

They were around in the 2000s. Correction: those were Tesco own brand tampons. Smile

As for the name now, it is nothingy and will blend in with all the Lily,Lila, Lilah, Lola type names.

THIS. ^ Do not do this to your daughter @Frenchylove Lilia is a brand of sanitary towel! 😱

Stick with Lily or Olivia.

@BatchCookBabe if the sanitary towels were still being sold I obviously wouldn't even consider it but for something that was discontinued in the 1980's, way before I and the majority of my friends were born I don't think it's a major thing
As mentioned I can't go with Lily or Olivia

Layla

Frenchylove · 26/04/2025 10:09

Thanks for all the replies!
I did know about the sanitary towels but only cause I googled it, I’m not too worried about that being an issue as she will be way too young.
Not a fan of Lilian and I do love the name Lilah but another family member already has that name so it’s a no go for us. Open to any other suggestions please

It was a brand of sanitary towels.

Yes, my first thoughts to. I have a pet called Lilianna, which I think is nicer.

Tenofcups · 26/04/2025 06:55

Lilian is nicer

I know a Lilleah who is very cool. Great name.

I don't know about Lilia as a brand of sanitary towel and I was born in 1960, but my first thought was on Lillets.

I had no idea about the sanitary towels but I was born in the 90s. I literally have a box of lillets breast pads and I still didn’t connect the two.

nyancatdays · 26/04/2025 02:41

I like it. I’m 48 and have never heard of the sanitary towels so I doubt her school friends will know 😆

Wanttobefree2 · 26/04/2025 02:26

I like it but don’t know how to say it!

It was a brand of sanitary towels.

I thought that.

uncomfortablydumb60 · 26/04/2025 01:03

My DM used Lilia sanitary towels
I’m 60 though and most younger women wouldn’t know that
Lil-lets are though sorry
Lyla sounds nicer. Or Layla?

Jayneyy · 26/04/2025 00:00

Very pretty.
