Margot Alysia Y_ as a full name.

Alysia is a modern take on my mother’s name, and Margaret is DH late GMs names - hence, Margot.

I love Margot, I would go for the spelling Alicia for the middle name as I think it compliments Margot better than a more modern spelling, but they sound nice together. Margot is quite popular but I don’t think that should put you off off you like it.

yikesanotherbooboo · 25/04/2025 16:06

I would steer away from unusual spellings and I prefer Margaret to Margot but Margot is a fine name and will be easy to live with .

Whoarethoseguys · 25/04/2025 16:06

I really dislike the name Margot. But there is nothing wrong with it it's just personal taste. It isn't possible to find a name everyone will like

24CRZZNKKA · 25/04/2025 16:04

Not my cup of tea. Id go with Alyssia Margot Y......

Soozikinzii · 25/04/2025 16:03

Yes there's a few near to us now and I really like it .

AnneShirleysNewDress · 25/04/2025 16:03

I think of the Margot Leadbetter played by the fabulous Penelope Keith. I love it.

SallyWD · 25/04/2025 16:00

It's a name everyone loves on Mumsnet but I'm not overly keen. I just imagine a very posh, 60 year old woman. Despite that association, I don't particularly like the sound either.

beguilingeyes · 25/04/2025 15:58

Being an old person, I think of Fonteyn, so I love it.

Sunflowerso · 25/04/2025 15:56

Lovely

user1492757084 · 24/04/2025 12:53

It's a nice combination, with meaning for you.

How is Alysia pronounced?
Aleecia, Alissia, Aleesha?

cramptramp · 24/04/2025 10:02

I know a little Margot. Lovely name.

You could go with the French Margaux to avoid the maggot problem

Margot already is the French version; Margaux is a wine!

HarryVanderspeigle · 24/04/2025 07:08

I'm not a fan, but can't explain why. I am clearly in the minority, as it is a popular name now. Really love Maggie though.

Birdsongsinging · 24/04/2025 07:00

Not keen on Margot.

Emanwenym · 24/04/2025 06:57

@Edenmum2 , too close to Magnox.

CrackSpackle · 23/04/2025 23:06

Love it

Edenmum2 · 23/04/2025 23:04

It’s lovely but very, very common if that’s something that would bother you

WildCherryBlossom · 23/04/2025 23:00

Margot is lovely. I know a 56 year old, an 18 year old and an 11 year old. That’s a pretty good age spread. I don’t think it’s ‘of the moment’ at all. Rather timeless.

onceuponarainbow12 · 23/04/2025 22:56

I love the name and was on my list - called DD Etta in the end.

Margot is truly frumpy to me and looks like Maggot I'm afraid. Alyssia is beautiful.

Happyinarcon · 23/04/2025 22:39

I would also suggest Margaret over Margot simply due to the current popularity.

Firsttimebabymummy · 23/04/2025 22:29

Lovely name.

Emanwenym · 23/04/2025 22:28

@welcometonewyorkitsbeenwaitingforyou , Margot Robbie.
