Cordelia is top of our list at the moment

Thought? Any similar names we might like?

Absolutely love it, we have a Cordelia in the family, it's a fantastic name.

CherryRipe1 · 24/04/2025 13:34

Fabulous name, different & makes a change from the usual suspects. Clelia is nice too.

LooseGooseMoose · 24/04/2025 13:34

I really like it.

BoredZelda · 24/04/2025 13:31

It isn’t pretentious. It is a beautiful name.

DissDissOrDiss · 24/04/2025 13:28

Very pretty name. I like it a lot.

There is also ..
Cordella, Cordelle, Marina, Cressida, Callidora, Myuna and Nerida.

UnimatrixZeroOne · 24/04/2025 11:44

Buffy. Big no.

hideawayforever · 24/04/2025 11:33

lovely

BumbleBeegu · 24/04/2025 11:19

Are you very posh OP? If you are, I think it’s a name that will work well (lovely meaning and has some great nicknames, Dilly, Lia, Delia, Della etc).

If you’re not very posh though, and your child will be attending an average primary /secondary school, it could be ‘a bit much’.

Either way, objectively it’s a lovely name.

Welshwhales · 24/04/2025 11:12

Love it, a very pretty name my dad was one of 17 children ( Irish catholics) his sisters had such beautiful names , Nancy, Cecilia, Bernadette, Dolores 🙂

GoldenRosebee · 24/04/2025 11:05

I love Cordelia and don't care if it sounds pretentious... it's still lovely. I love Cordy as nickname.

PurpleChrayn · 23/04/2025 23:47

Horrible. Sounds like umbilical cords.

17caterpillars1mouse · 23/04/2025 23:17

Love it. I like Cordi as a quirky shortening but you could have Delia, Delly, Della etc

Unusual but not unheard of and I just find it quite sing songy and beautiful.

Blueuggboots · 23/04/2025 23:14

Knew one….she was known as Dee.

It's a bit posh but I love the nickname Dilly

Ceebs85 · 23/04/2025 22:44

I didn't like it until my daughter became friends with a Cordelia who is the cutest so now I do 😂

Firsttimebabymummy · 23/04/2025 22:32

Beautiful name! Was on my list too, as was Cecilia so you may like that.

Pollyanna87 · 23/04/2025 22:12

Gorgeous name.

Apollonia1 · 23/04/2025 21:50

I immediately think of Lady Cordelia Flyte from Brideshead Revisited. I named my son after another character in the book.

IKnowAristotle · 23/04/2025 21:47

Definitely @Weekmindedfool

I know two Buffys and they both rock it.

Weekmindedfool · 23/04/2025 21:09

IKnowAristotle · 23/04/2025 20:27

It was on my list for DD but had to rule it out as named my first child after a Buffy character and thought it would be too much.

maybe OP should consider the name
Buffy?

Weekmindedfool · 23/04/2025 21:07

juneisjuly · 23/04/2025 19:58

probably Delia, maybe Cordie

Cordite?

Bramble25 · 23/04/2025 21:05

Anne of Green gables
Not one of my faves but I do love Delia

ArtemisiaTheArtist · 23/04/2025 21:01

I'm not keen. The "Cord-" part reminds me of cording/rope/string...yes I'm weird. Also I don't think anyone in my circle would put such a posh name on a child 😃.
