I like:

Nicole - aka Coco for a girl

or

Reuben for a boy

any reason I should avoid theese? My DH is not conivinced on Reuben. So told him the Mumsnet ladies would give us an honest opinion!

Really, Lucicle? I think the opposite - to me, Nicole seems more upmarket than Nicola.

halogen · 20/05/2008 21:28

I would go for Nicola rather than Nicole, I think. Nicole just seems a bit less classy/grown up, if you know what I mean. I really like both Coco and Reuben. If I wanted Coco for a shortening, I think I'd be looking for a different long name to shorten it from, really.

The Ruben vision makes me giggle - as long as he takes mummy out on the yatch!

ggirl, not getting the slip on shoes vibe for Reuben at all (but you made me laugh )

always liked Reuben or Ruben, international too.

Nicole is pretty and totally unpretentious IMO - I would wait and see if I felt like calling her Coco or not, think Nick and Nicky are fine.

Nighbynight · 16/05/2008 22:10

sorry, I hate both those names.

pointydog · 16/05/2008 22:09

Not keen on Reuben.

CaptainDippy · 16/05/2008 22:01

Yuk @ Reuben, especially as my friend has a great big slobbery dog called Reuben. Hmmmm, jury's out on Nicole Quite like it in a quirky kinda way. That ok!!?

dizzydixies · 16/05/2008 21:57

and rudy for reuben

dizzydixies · 16/05/2008 21:57

love them both

if nobody has suggested it (haven't read whole thread)

how about Nico as nn for nicole

I like Coco for Charlotte

brimfull · 16/05/2008 21:27

hahaha yes the yacht

oxocube · 16/05/2008 21:13

and a yacht -ggirl, you forgot the yacht

brimfull · 16/05/2008 20:39

Reuben is a middle aged man with blonde highlights and white slip on shoes

Janni · 16/05/2008 20:38

They're both OK. Reuben can be Ben if he doesn't like it when he's older.

brimfull · 16/05/2008 20:36

don't like Reuben.

Like Nicole,but Coco ???not sure

Nbg · 16/05/2008 20:33

Love love love Coco and Reuben.

Do not like Nicole.

oxocube · 16/05/2008 20:32

I like Reuben but then I live in Holland and its a nice and popular name. Actually, my cat is called Reuben

podglet · 16/05/2008 20:31

Love Reuben. Ds's godfather is a Reuben and a splendid chap.

Nicole - not sure about it but DS's nursery leader spells it Nichol which is interesting. Quite like Coco though.

kerala · 16/05/2008 20:21

Like Reuben very much its on our list.

Really dont like Nicole. Nicole is page 3 and the one I know is a trophy girlfriend WAG type.

myalias · 16/05/2008 20:16

I like Reuben and I know two adorable boys with this name. Be prepared for people to get the spelling wrong though.
Nicole is ok - Coco is not.

pootleflump · 16/05/2008 20:15

Like Nicole

Hate the name Reuben, just sounds very pretentious to me- though I know it's very popular on here for some reason.

WestCountryLass · 16/05/2008 20:12

Lovely names! I love Reuben but DH said no.

Nanoon · 16/05/2008 19:19

ooo ooo DS2 is a Reuben, love it love it.

Not sure about Nicole to be honest.

loler · 16/05/2008 18:24

I like Reuben but probably wouldn't chose it myself. Only Reuben I've ever met was at Uni, he was very good looking and everyone fancied him. Haven't come across any at school or nursery yet. If he really hates the name he can call himself Ben.

Coco - love it, it's a nickname so she would be able to drop it easily at school/work. Not sure about Nicole, it's a bit 1980s (was the name I wanted for my dd when I was looking into the future at school).

jk1 · 16/05/2008 18:18

I have a Lucinda shortened to Lulu! Very cutesy and prissy and she sooooo suits it!

AHLH · 16/05/2008 18:16

The best looking man I have ever met is called Ruben (only one e in his splelling). (not DH! ).

Like Nicole as grown up name and Coco as nickname.
