I love the name Linda but it’s very 70s to me and makes me think of a 50-something woman rather than someone young

It is pronounced;

lins - see - ah

three syllables xx

Yes I suppose so is Lu-chee-a really when I think about it.

I was just thinking if the ci was ch not see then it would sound rather like “ lynch”

Linda is my 15yo dd’s middle name. She really likes it. I think it’s a lovely sound.

Is it pronounced “ Lynch-ya”? Like Lucia ( Lu-Chee-ya )? If so that might be an issue op.

@DoYaKnowTheFiveLamps as a few others have said, just go with Linda.

It's easy to say, easy to spell, pretty, underused.

Don't tell anyone until she's born if you can't face debating it. After a couple of, "Linda?" comments it will just be her name ❤️

Maybe it's a name that was in for a long time, I'm 50s and was in school with a few Lyndsays, male and female.

But it might be regional too, Lindsay is a Scottish name. I also know one in their 70s.

This was North-East England. Maybe it took until the 80s to trickle down from Scotland 😅

Lyndsay, Lynsey, Lindsey, Lindsay and Linzi are all in their late 30s to early 40s and went to school with either me or my sister! There were 5 Lynseys of various spellings in my year.

I don’t know of any Linda’s in their fifties. I think that most of the ones I know are in their seventies.

Get ahead of the trend and go for Linda. It's already making a comeback as a middle name (presumably by people using granny's name as a middle name) and it can't be long before it makes a comeback as a first name.

groovergirl · 03/04/2025 02:04

Linda is elegant. It's fresh and pretty, like a waft of jasmine on the breeze. Why do you care if other people think it's "dated"? Your opinion is the one that counts. If you pick a "younger", trendy name, that, too, will date.

AnniesMother · 03/04/2025 01:43
