Daisyrainbows · 27/03/2025 21:40

We have a Charlotte (Lottie) and I’m torn between these three

Cassandra (would be Cassie)
Philippa (Pippa)
Imogen (Immy)

please help me pick!

Not Philippa (she's a baby, not middle-aged)
Cassandra/Cassie - nice
Imogen - nice, but don't like Immy

saraclara · 28/03/2025 10:28

I love Pippa and Pip.

I like Imogen but really don't like Immy.

Cassie seems somewhat dated as it went through a popular period about three decades ago. But it's fine.

I'd go Pippa though, and not even bother with the full Philippa.

PressPauseontheMenopause · 28/03/2025 10:22

I have an Imogen (sister Hattie so similar to Lottie) and she’s always been called Imo, not Immy. Just a thought!

Sleepnplay · 28/03/2025 10:20

I have an Imogen so obviously love that, but also not keen on Immy and don't use it ourselves. Lots of other shortenings too, but if you love Immy then all good!

I love Cassandra and Cassie too, only thing that would put me off is a second 'C' initial just for post practicality, but plenty of people must manage this.

CruCru · 28/03/2025 09:01

Philippa. I know quite a few Imogens and if you have a child whose name starts with C, I wouldn’t name their sibling something that also starts with C. Although Cassandra is my favourite of the three.

cunoyerjudowel · 28/03/2025 08:24

FYI just google the meaning of Pippa

Heidi2018 · 28/03/2025 08:21

Love Philippa! Great names OP

Love Imogen not so much immy, how old is your Charlotte she may not stick with Lottie

Our Lottie is a toddler. Agree it might not last forever.

Thank you all for replying to me, I really appreciate it! Lots to think about. But only a few week ha - I’ll let you know what we pick xx

(not to say no more replies…more opinions pls!)

Charlotte and

Philippa 10/10 Lottie and Pippa go well.
Cassandra 10/10 Lottie and Cass are sweet
Imogen 8/10 Immy is not a fave.

Sunblocker · 28/03/2025 03:53

So many Imogens around, and Isobels! Not sure it’s the same everywhere but I could list dozens at school. Only ever taught one Cassandra and no Philippas.

Mothership4two · 28/03/2025 02:00

Pippa

savethatkitty · 28/03/2025 01:54

Sorry but I don't really love any. Philippa will always require spelling! So you may as well just name baby "pippa"

Immy - yuk. Imogen is ok, but are you happy with nicknames?

I like Cassie best (or Cass). I hate Lottie though (soz)

Needspaceforlego · 28/03/2025 01:17

Imogen is my favourite out the actual names but I'm not so keen on Immy, it sounds like the start of immigration a disease.

Cassie I like but not so keen on Cassandra but it would probably never be used its no where near as nice a Charlotte. And I should add I'm not keen on same initials. It's a PITA when mail comes in Miss C Smith!

Pippa is ok and so is Philipa.

So process of elimination I think it needs to be Philipa.

mathanxiety · 28/03/2025 01:03

Philippa goes very well with Charlotte. Pippa and Lottie is a lovely pairing of nicknames.

I dislike Imogen, and Cassandra doesn't have the same RF vibe as Philippa and Charlotte.

YouOKHun · 28/03/2025 00:54

I have a now adult Imogen. Her name got shortened to Imo by all her school friends and I didn’t have much say in it!

Buttonknot · 28/03/2025 00:53

I like all three, Pippa is my fave.

2024BabyNameIndecision · 28/03/2025 00:49

I have an Imogen! So obviously that would be my favourite. But we don't use Immy at home. I'm sure she might decide in the future at some point that she would like to shorten her name or her friends will do it for her, but I just always call her by her full name. I also like Pippa a lot. I've known several American Cassandras but never one in the UK so for that reason, I associate it as being more American? But obviously that's just a personal thing.

Bournetilly · 28/03/2025 00:45

Cassie, Pippa and Immy are all lovely names but Cassandra and Philippa are horrible, especially Philippa. If it’s the longer version I’d go with Imogen.

caringcarer · 27/03/2025 23:12

I prefer Cassandra. You'll probably call her Cassie. Charlotte and Cassandra go well together. I know an Imogen who gets called Imo.

MarioLink · 27/03/2025 22:59

I was going to vote for Cassandra but I think it's better they have different initials. I think Imogen is too popular so I vote for Philippa and Pippa is lovely and goes great with Lottie.

hideawayforever · 27/03/2025 22:59

Cassandra is my favourite, love Cassie too.

Sleepington · 27/03/2025 22:57

Your names are right up my street.

Imogen was on my list but when I was walking in a park one day, I heard a mother call her daughter in a very fake sounding posh accent and it completely turned me off the name. I am not a fan of Immy at all. It sounds insipid.

I love Pippa but DH didn’t. Had an ex called Philip and I didn’t particularly want to be reminded of him either

I love Cassie too but I don’t really like Cassandra or Sandra. Cassie has a cool vibe and I would choose it over both your other names.

The other name on my
list was Harriet. Just throwing it into the mix.

CrushingOnRubies · 27/03/2025 22:56

Philippa. But be prepared for Phillipa… how do you feel about Pippa being shortened to Pip?

i like Cassie but not keen on Cassandra. but like Imogen but not Immy

but a over all a great choice of names

FairKoala · 27/03/2025 22:51

Do actually like the name Pippa. The only girl I knew growing up who had the name Pippa was actually called Pippa because her mum apparently didn’t like the name Phillipa and didn’t also want it shortening to Phil
