Is this TOO old-fashioned?

Is the name 'Christopher' a bit too old-fashioned and Boomer-ish? Generally I like 'classic' names but I guess that some can be a bit much...

The youngest Boomers will be 61 this year so that's nobody in their 50's.

There's Chris's of all the genders in all the generations, like Alex's.

Just choose a name that suits you and your baby.

No, Christopher is classic. Chris, as a short form, sounds dated now (I cannot imagine a little Chris) but Kit is a more modern shortening which feels fresh. Christopher nn Kit is lovely.

I love it. I really want to bring all the 80s names back. Chris, James, Andrew, John, Robert, Robin, William etc. Bet you’d never meet a kid these days called Kevin, Gavin or Brian either…

I went to school with loads of Christopher’s, Chris’. So it was popular until the 1980s.I think the name has fizzled out but it would
be nice for it to make a return!

I quite like it - I like Christy as a nn over Kit and Topher which are try hard (and Chris, who is a mechanic aged 55)

Whereas there probably were more Christophers born in the 50s, 60, and 70s, than later, it is one of those names that has been used in every decade.
I know (or have known) Christophers born in every decade.

I like it. My teenage crush in secondary was a Christopher. I think it's one of those names thats always around and doesn't go in or out of fashion iykwim.

Oh mine too, I see him around occasionally and he is still very handsome !

Anyway, I think it Is a great name and probably due a return.

It's a fairly timeless classic name to me
Although all seem to end up as Chris.

I know a 2 year old Christopher, it’s not that popular at the moment but just like all traditional boys names, it never disappears completely, there’s a David at toddler group too.

I know a lot more Christophers in their 30s and 40s than boomers.

You could have Kipper as a nickname- like in the Oxford Reading Tree! 😁

It doesn't seem old fashioned at all to me. I find all the Archies and Alfred's horribly old fashioned but not Christopher.

My son is called Christopher - now aged 22. Our other top choices were either Oscar or Theo which, at the time, we thought were more “unusual” names - compared to the classic Christopher. It turns out those names were far more common than Christopher in his age group anyway!

I think it's quite classic and won't outdate. Although my DM and MIL are both Chris /Christine so wasn't for me 😂
I'd only pick it if you also like Chris tho as PP have said

There's a Christopher in dc's class who goes by the nickname of Kit which is very cool.
