I'd say all your choices are uncontroversial except for Theodora and Wilbur, which might seem 'cute' if you know a sweet child with that name now, but are Marmite names that won't age particularly well.

Similar girls' names you might want to think about would be Lydia, Rosalind or Thomasina, shortened to Tommi for every day, like the owner of Wahaca restaurants.

I'm struggling to suggest a name like Wilbur, but I do know a Wilson, which suits him, like when people use your surname as a given name and it becomes quite cool. Not for everyone though.

Love Phoebe
Like Matilda, Cora, Lila
Clara, Olivia are fine names just not for me, and I don’t like Theodora at all sorry

Love Louis, George, Arthur
Like Henry
Toby I like but feel it needs a longer name
Wilbur not fussed on sorry

Phoebe & Louis would be my top picks.

I like all of the boys' names enough to use them.

I like all of the girls' names but would not use Cora.

Lila and Toby

TheFairyCaravan · 28/03/2025 23:10

Clara and George.

l love George, it was my great-grandad’s name, and wanted to use it somewhere in DS2’s name, but DH didn’t like it. 28yrs on I’m still bitter about it, DGS was almost called it, and I’m so sad he wasn’t, but I do love his name.

lovely lists, you can’t go too wrong!

AdaColeman · 28/03/2025 21:21

Clara and Toby are my favourites from your list.

Cora Lila and especially Wilber are my least favourite.

While you've chosen some nice names, several of them are hugely popular, such as Olivia Arthur and Louis, so if that matters to you, check out where the names come in the Top Twenty names lists.

Onlyvisiting · 28/03/2025 21:20

Clara would be fine, except judging by the sheer number of times I've seen it suggested on here I can only assume in abt 5 years it will be more common than olivia. (I had a family member choose it in early 2000's as a family name that wasn't common, that year Olivia became number 4 I think. They were trend setters 😅)

Calliopespa · 28/03/2025 21:19

One other caution with Cora is I’m sure at some point she’d get the “ Cor, look at that!” joke.

It is hard to find a name that doesn’t lend itself to some sort of joke, but somehow Cora just sounds to me like some bloke exclaiming “ Cor blimey…!”

Onlyvisiting · 28/03/2025 21:17

Matilda and Henry

No child should be landed with a name like Wilbur; it's comical and truly awful.

Apart from that, your list has some really nice names on it, nothing that would raise eyebrows. Theodora is a bit much and Lila is a bit nothingy, but the rest are perfectly nice names.

Apart from Wilbur...

I know a little Wilbur: he’s gorgeous and it’s really very cute on him.
