Thoughts on this? Personally I'm not keen but DP likes it for our 3rd DD. Think it sounds a bit chavy tbh.

No

AuntAgathaGregson · 07/03/2025 12:44

No. If your partner likes the sound, then Niamh is the way to go.

Havenshow · 07/03/2025 12:43

I knew someone once whose granddaughter was called Chardonnay. Its a step up from that, but that’s the best I can say.

HugoYorway · 07/03/2025 12:42

It screams out 'young mother from a humble socio-economic background'.

Darkclothes · 07/03/2025 12:40

I'm not sure how you are pronouncing it, but it reminds me of nevus, which include multiple different skin conditions. Don't look up hairy nevus! 😕

It's an awful made up name. Please don't use it.

BourbonsAreOverated · 07/03/2025 12:39

Do a search on here to see how many times it gets brought up and how many posts then suggest Niamh instead.

ExitPursuedByABare · 07/03/2025 12:38

Clever?

TheFormidableMrsC · 07/03/2025 12:37

It's also "heaven" backwards

Holdonforsummer · 07/03/2025 12:28

I hate it, sorry. But then I hate all made up modern names…… This one particularly gets my goat, I don’t know why. Maybe cos it’s supposed to be clever?

All names are made up 😁

HereintheloveofChristIstand · 07/03/2025 12:36

Chavvy

I didn’t know this was a real name just one of those mumsnet folklore wind ups?

A girl who was at school with my DC grew up, had a baby and called her Nevaeh. How do I know? Her mum told me, while looking vaguely embarrassed.

TheFormidableMrsC · 07/03/2025 12:36

I like the jewellery brand of the same name bit probably wouldn't choose it for a child.

whatsthatBout · 07/03/2025 12:36

I actually love it, I think it has a beautiful sound and rolls off the tongue nicely.

MN will hate it though as it’s associated with people who are not middle-class.

Wanderwonderwander · 07/03/2025 12:35

Glorybox2025 · 07/03/2025 12:34

There are loads of people called nevaeh now!

No way! Wow actually shocked I genuinely thought was one of those wind up names people post on here to get people frothing

LittleBigHead · 07/03/2025 12:35

Oh god no. It sounds a face cream (or very near to it). Imagine being married to someone who wanted this name Shock

boulevardofbrokendreamss · 07/03/2025 12:34

It's awful.

Glorybox2025 · 07/03/2025 12:33

Heaven spelt backwards. Why would you? Calling a child heaven in the first place is weird. Reversing the spelling is super weird. There are much nicer sounding names with better meanings.

Sal17690 · 07/03/2025 12:32

Chavviest name in existence. I teach one and she is a real sweetheart. But every day I feel sorry for her having such an awful name! just truly terrible. Please don't!

Mirabai · 07/03/2025 12:32

Truly dreadful. Niamh is lovely though.

TheRealBalonz · 07/03/2025 12:31

@toffeepopcornbrownie I think it might help to think of names that flow well with your other DC’s names. Niamh could be a compromise if you have Irish roots.
