Lana or Arna

This naming business is difficult work! Still haven't found the 'one' but We like the names Lana and Arna. We already have DD - Isla.
I'm not sure if Arna is actually a real name spelling but that's how we'd pronounce it, like in Frozen 😅
What are your thoughts in these 2 names and which do you prefer? I don't care for any backwards spelling comments as we are aware and I don't think it will be too much of an issue.
Thank you MN xx

I love Lana and considered it for our baby but honestly, the fact it spells anal backwards put me off.

Oh yes this would put me off too!
I know someone who spells it Lannah, maybe thats why?

HugoYorway · 26/02/2025 16:08

Arna will get mixed up with Arnold.
Lana is ok but makes me think of wool and ...

Moveoverdarlin · 26/02/2025 16:06

Arna and Isla are far too similar sounding for siblings in my opinion.

Bananalanacake · 26/02/2025 16:04

Definitely Lana, I have one, it really suits her.

Arna sounds like a brand name - an arnica ointment or a mishearing of Arla. And it looks daft written down.

Lana is nice.

Guavafish1 · 26/02/2025 16:00

Arwa

Arna doesn't sound like a real name to me.
You could call her Alana with the nn Arna .

Haven't thought about this - thank you!

Thank you all for your comments - I did wonder about Arna as it's not actually in my name book 😅 Thanks for clarifying that one.

Arna is really not great, sorry!! It’s also Anna, just with questionable pronunciation in Disney. (Edit: hadn’t realised the Eastern European connection as per PP, interesting…)

Lana is fine.

What about Astrid, Alba, Lara, Malin, Asta, Clara, Freya for a similar vibe?

NeverHadHaveHas · 26/02/2025 15:50

Arna will make people assume you’re a Disney adult.

bullrushes · 26/02/2025 15:49

The pronunciation in frozen is just an eastern european pronunciation of Anna.

If you really want that I'd go with Ana with one N

atthepinkponyclub · 26/02/2025 15:49

I always wondered why they pronounce it ‘arna’ in frozen? Although I do quite like it.

rach7979 · 26/02/2025 15:49

Lana sounds better than Arna, which sounds like a mispronunciation of a name

turkeyboots · 26/02/2025 15:47

The princess in Frozen is Anna. Arna is very unusual.

pizzaHeart · 26/02/2025 15:46

My first impression was that you meant Arla.
I like Lana.

IdaGlossop · 26/02/2025 15:43

Arna is too close to Arla, the Swedish dairy products company. Lana I like - unusual with a pleasing rounding of sound.

ClarabelleRose · 26/02/2025 15:41

Like Lana, but dislike Arna. How about Anya? So much prettier.
