Theo or Adam....?

As per title, torn between the two names for DC3.

I know both are quite common, well used names.

Not keen on Theodore so it will just be Theo.

Adam
More of a timeless classic than Theo

Unicorn34 · 25/02/2025 19:01

I like Theo if it's THeo and not Feo!

ThreeLuckyStars · 25/02/2025 19:00

The adage I don’t know him from Adam could be applied to I don’t know him from Theo given it’s current popularity-

That said I love Theo for some reason especially if short for Theodore

RebeccaRedhat · 25/02/2025 18:59

I know about 10 Theos, and only 1 Adam who is 15, so obviously not a common name here. Probs depends on the names of siblings e.g. if you already have an Eve/Eva/Ava I personally wouldn't go with Adam 😅

Goandygo · 25/02/2025 18:54

I love Adam.

Firsttimebabymummy · 25/02/2025 18:50

Adam

Waterboatlass · 25/02/2025 18:39

Adam. I'm a bit Theo'ed out and wouldn't go for it without the full version which is lovely but very popular. Adam is a bit more evenly spread

Orphlids · 25/02/2025 18:36

There are so many Theos that it’s become really dull. It has no impact. But I do find that many parents of Theos seem to think they’ve chosen a really unusual and daring name.

Adam is great.

sundaysunday2024 · 25/02/2025 18:35

Adam. Theo is rather overused around these parts (Midlands) so it's getting boring.

SemperIdem · 25/02/2025 18:08

@KayEmAy it’s in the top 50 in the UK but even so, there will be far fewer little Adam’s running around than Theo’s or Theodore’s known as Theo, so your point stands!

KayEmAy · 25/02/2025 17:53

Love the name Adam! And it may not be as popular as you think, at least here in the US it's not even top 100.

TwoRobins · 25/02/2025 17:28

Adam always reminds me of Trebor Mints.

Pick Theo!

Sandsnake · 25/02/2025 17:15

I like Theo. However, three out of the last four baby boys I’ve known to be born have been called Theo (just Theo, not Theodore)

I like both, but would choose Theo first.

LadyMonicaBaddingham · 25/02/2025 17:00

Theo is very commonplace now. 30 years ago I babysat for a little Theo and it was a REALLY unusual name. Now there are two or even three in several of the classes at 'my' primary school

Rainbow1235 · 25/02/2025 16:59

adam

MinPinSins · 25/02/2025 16:58

Adam definitely - Theo is very now, so is going to sound dated in the way that Gary, Darren etc do now - Adam is a classic over the years.

Also avoids him having to be Theo B or whatever - I could fill a football team with all the little Theos I know.

Emanwenym · 25/02/2025 16:56

Adam. Theo is so overused and I'm not keen. I dislike Theodore.

BoleynMemories13 · 25/02/2025 15:39

I like both but Adam has stood the test of time, whereas Theo is very 'now'.

Yes there are lots of both around, but Adam tends to be spread across the generations (particularly the under 50s), whereas Theo is super popular among under 15s in particular, so there are more likely to be lots of Theos the same age as him.

I would choose Adam.

SemperIdem · 25/02/2025 15:14

Adam is more classic than Theo and its popularity more evenly spread.

With the exception of Theo James, the actor, I’ve yet to come across a Theo (in the uk anyway) over the age of 13.

TomatoSandwiches · 25/02/2025 15:13

Adam

StampOnTheGround · 25/02/2025 15:12

Theo is much nicer than Adam, however it is much more popular at the moment too.

Notgivenuphope · 25/02/2025 15:12

Find Theo a bit chavvy tbh

LadyKenya · 25/02/2025 15:11

Both names are nice, but I would opt for Adam.
