Definitely Nell, i had a great great aunt Nell, I think it was short for Helen or Eleonor, but I prefer just Nell - oldfashioned charm and all that...plus abundance of Eleonors at the mo....agree with snowleopard about Isla, but it's also a pretty and unobjectional name.

Isla was one of my favourites if littlest manky had been a girl. I love it and also Iona. Not sure about Nell, also think of Little house on the prairie, and the song about Nellie the elephant. Which I know is mad, because it's a nice enough name.

I like Isla MUCH better. Can't get horrid Nelly from Little House on the Prairie out of my head with Nell and my niece is called Nell too. Oh dear. I do think Isla is lovely.

Oh I LOVE Nell. Have always thought I might like to use Nell (or Nella) if I ever have a girl.

Isla is a bit less cool, more middle-aged-seeming to me. I just think of Isla St. Clair...

My friends little girl is called Aneila and she gets Nell for short, I love it, she is Scottish though and I think the accent makes it sound better, but then I like most names said in a Scottish accent better

Prefer Isla. Nell is quite sweet but only as an abbreviation - it's not a proper name.
