How would you pronounce this name Kaelan or Kaylan

We have finally found the name we are wanting to call our son.

I love the spelling “Kaelan” pronounced “Kay- Lan” but I am worried people would call him “KEE-LAN”

or do we have to make it obvious for people and spell it out as “Kaylan”

Your issue is that it’s an anglicisation of the ‘aoi’ vowel cluster which is pronounced very differently in different dialects of Irish. CEE’-lun and CAY-lun are both correct, just as the name Caoilfhionn can be pronounced several ways.

I've never heard of the name and would wonder if it had silent letters, maybe pronounced like Kuh-lan.

Based on a Kealan I know (in Ireland) it will be mispronounced a lot with that spelling.
People def seem to get stuck at the 'ke' part and go with Keelin.

It would prob be fine if he was clear about the pronunciation when meeting people, or corrected errors but he doesn't 🤔

If people say Kaelan as Kee lan it’s because they are misreading it as
Kealan.

People don’t say Rae as Ree or Mae as Mee. So you should be fine.

Kaelan I’d pronounce as Keelan
Kaylan I’d pronounce Kay - lan
If you are concerned with pronunciation I’d go with Kay lan it’s more obvious.

I have only seen this name spelt Caelan and it's pronounced as you pronounce it; Kay Lan.
