For a boy. Thoughts?

OP posts:
Are your children’s vaccines up to date?
Neurotoxic · 18/02/2025 10:37

I think it's got too much baggage.
Middle name could be ok.

margegunderson · 18/02/2025 10:36

Unusually for an odd name suggestion I like this one. Paxton btw was the bloke who built the Crystal Palace for Queen Victoria.

Absolutely not. It’s an Aldi toilet roll and a dodgy 1980s heavy metal band.

I've corrected your post 😉

Moglet4 · 18/02/2025 10:30

It sounds like you’re a white supremacist. Plus, at school, he’ll get ‘sex on’ or something similar. Sorry, OP.

MrsSkylerWhite · 18/02/2025 10:28

We knew a Saxon, was a girl. Suited her.

whymewhyme · 18/02/2025 10:28

It's not for me

cheezncrackers · 18/02/2025 10:27

Like Patrick Schwarzenegger's lecherous character in The White Lotus 3? Not good timing for that name, I think 😆

LookingAtMyBhunas · 18/02/2025 10:26

Chavvy

AlloftheTime · 18/02/2025 09:38

Reminds me of a shire horse

EsmeShelby · 18/02/2025 09:38

Do you want him to grow up and front a metal band?

Edenmum2 · 18/02/2025 09:36

Were you watching White Lotus last night by any chance?

RedToothBrush · 18/02/2025 09:36

I know someone who had a beast of a dog named Saxon.

WitcheryDivine · 18/02/2025 09:35

BettyBardMacDonald · 18/02/2025 00:51

Even worse, my cousin named hers Paxton.

Everyone in the family like WTF?!

Paxton is a character in the Netflix series Never Have I Ever. Always reminds me of stuffing too.

Saxon is okay but I have heard of a boy called Saxton from New Zealand.
I like Saxton as a name.

KittenPause · 18/02/2025 03:10

Saxon is a great name

But more suited to a dog

RogueFemale · 18/02/2025 03:07

My thoughts are a giant no to Saxon. Or any -xon name. Or X.

ItsFreedomBabyYeah · 18/02/2025 01:02

I love it! Manly & strong sounding name

It is!
But, what if Saxon grew up to be a willowy gentle adult?

BraverThanTheyThink · 18/02/2025 03:00

I do like the name.

However, if the bearer of that name grows up to be not particularly physically fit, it may seem odd.

Maybe I'm wrong, but Saxon is such a strong sounding name, that if conjures up an image of say, a gladiatorial type figure.

Also (unfortunately) it can sound like a good name for a big strong dog 🤭

RamsestheDamned · 18/02/2025 02:15

A bit odd how many pps are going to "one vowel or letter away from sex". He'd likely be called Sax as nickname. Don't be weird. I don't think adult females should be jumping to assume what teenage boys would use for a shortening when throughly his early and middle childhood he'd probably get all the way through as Sax. There's been many John Thomases, Dicks and Willys throughout time, stop reaching Hmm
A friend of mine has an older kid called Sixx. He's never been referred to as "sex(x)". Give yourselves a shake weirdos.
Heaven forfend if anyone tried to float Fanny as a historical name. I think Mumsnet entire might have a collective seizure.
Many people use "Minnie/y" as name for down there. Fifi etc. I guess people on here just love to pick apart anything they can nowadays. It's easy bait for the bored 🙄

TodayIsTheGreatest · 18/02/2025 02:00

Giving strong Alan Partridge vibes

First thought is his brother Norman. Next thought Dr Who baddie. Third thought white supremacist.

I get your thoughts - since Jaxon is popular, then why not Saxon? 2 reasons - sadly possible white supremacy links (Anglo-Saxon); but just as likely that many think it’s not the best idea for go for a name that’s only one letter from “Sexon” once boys become pre-teens/teenagers imo.

But if it’s the strong “X” sound you are after then I think Axel is becoming more popular?

Agreed White power connotations.
Probably worth a rethink.

RiversofOtters · 18/02/2025 01:08

How about with a middle name?
Saxon Thing
Saxon Puriteigh
Saxon Invasion
Saxon Noisavni
Saxon Bludline
