For a boy. Thoughts?

OP posts:
Are your children’s vaccines up to date?

Definite white supremacist vibes. Strong no from me.

I agree with PP that a Saxon name like Harold or Alfred is better.

TreeChangeFarm · 18/02/2025 14:24

I’ve got a Saxon 🙋🏻‍♀️

Definitely not bullied at school (and is now a teenager) and no-one has ever tried to change it to anything else.

We are definitely not white supremacists 😂 I’d met two adult Saxon’s before having DS though. I really liked them both, and that probably had an influence on my choice. I’ve met one other since DS was born, he was a few years younger.

I still love the name and get compliments on it quite frequently. It suits him and he is never mixed up with other children at school.

flyinghen · 18/02/2025 14:13

Honestly it sounds likes like the name of a town not a person. Sorry!

JanetareyouokareyouokJanet · 18/02/2025 14:08

A truly awful name.

ShillyShallySherbet · 18/02/2025 14:07

Please don’t…

Saxon is a great name for a big strong dog
Daxon sounds like a breed of dog.
Jaxon- just No.
So that's three Nos from me.

You have sounded the klaxon!

Good name for a big dog. Awful name for a human.

I knew a lovely jack russell named Saxon, he thought he was a great Dane.

I have only once met a Saxon. I like it. Solid, unusual, definitely male.

I've also only once met a Saxon. She was very much female.

HabitHoarder · 17/02/2025 22:11

Just go with Daxton . Saxon is a bit odd.

Daxton is too close to Dachshund.

Is Paxton not a make of gravy granules or fish dressing - I'm sure its a food brand of some description, or am I thinking of something similar?

That's Paxo.

Beamur · 18/02/2025 12:29

I quite like it but - really difficult to say with a lisp..

tinytemper66 · 18/02/2025 12:28

I would question if you actually loved your child! Dear Lord no...

BaronessBomburst · 18/02/2025 12:24

How about a Saxon name?
Harold
Edmund
Oswald
Wilfric
Alfred
Edward

midlifeattheoasis · 18/02/2025 12:13

Awful

Greenfencebrowntree · 17/02/2025 22:20

Like Elon Musk's son. Sounds (unrelatedly) like something an American white supremacist would name their child.

That's what I thought too.

I'm a fan of more unusual names. But not this one, sorry.

Oldandcobwebby · 18/02/2025 11:45

I'd instantly think of the dreadful heavy metal band. It's a big "NO" from me.

godddwhathaveyoudone · 18/02/2025 11:38

omg yes lovely for a dog

DappledThings · 17/02/2025 22:15

It's the dog in Hot Fuzz.

What will his siblings be? Celt and Angle?

Presumably that's Angle pronounced lile angel?... Wink

I can imagine hearing it shouted at the park but would be very surprised if it was a child that came running!

I can imagine it would be a child, but it's a classic supermarket shouter of a name. You hear it and you think "oh dear, trouble's about".

CaptainMyCaptain · 18/02/2025 11:04

I like it.
I don't like Daxon or Jaxon which others have mentioned.

godddwhathaveyoudone · 18/02/2025 10:52

I mean Roman is very popular at the moment so maybe names like Saxon will follow?

I worked with a Saxon when I was a teen, it was around 2021/2012 time and everyone would sing ‘mr Saxon beat’

HardcoreLadyType · 18/02/2025 10:38

I’m surprised at the negative comments. To me it’s a lovely, strong sounding name, and simple to spell.
I didn’t know about the Aldi toilet paper, which is unfortunate, but the brand name is written in such small letters on the packaging, I think most people wouldn’t notice it.
I have a very ordinary name that somehow managed to be changed into something quite unpleasant once or twice at school. Children will do what kind of thing, and there really is no avoiding it. It hasn’t scarred me for life 🤷‍♀️.
FWIW, I like it.
