For a boy. Thoughts?

I apologise unreservedly to all the Saxon fans.

In my defence, I suspect it was the teenage Saxon fans with whom I associated at the time who were dodgy. I was always a prog girl and a bit scared of the headbangers.😂

There were some well good looking Saxon fans where I came from!

Oi Saxon is not dodgy.
But yeah, first ring was a HM band.
I'd go with something more traditional

It sounds like the sort of name an admirer of the idea of an Aryan master race would name their son.

I agree. If they choose appropriate names it'll be easier for the rest of us to know and hide when necessary.

How about
Saxon Fairbarn
Saxon Ironside
Saxon Destroyer of Worlds
Saxon Flaxen
Saxon Rising

Marcipix · 18/02/2025 23:53

I knew a beautiful red haired girl called Saxon. She’ll be grown up now.

I’m afraid people always did a double take, thinking it can’t be…

SnakesAndArrows · 17/02/2025 22:12

Absolutely not. It’s an Aldi toilet roll and a dodgy 1980s heavy metal band.

Hey! Less of the dodgy! I saw them last year… bloody briliant! 😂

How about a Saxon name?
Harold
Edmund
Oswald
Wilfric
Alfred
Edward

Harold and Oswald are Norse names.
The people who invaded and killed 'Saxons'.

Scutterbug · 18/02/2025 23:34

I know one, he’s in his twenties now. I didn’t like the name when I first heard it but it has grown on me.

moonshinepoursthroughmywindow · 18/02/2025 23:31

I kind of like it. I like the Saxon period in history and I also liked the band of that name. It's an unusual name for a person, but not unheard of and I don't think it sounds difficult to live with.

OneFineDay13 · 18/02/2025 23:28

Jeez no sorry

BitOutOfPractice · 18/02/2025 23:21

Like the hair rock band?

Saxon?
Purplecatshopaholic · 18/02/2025 23:17

I really like it! Defo couldn’t it though, now I know Elon Musk has a son with that name.

TinyRebel · 18/02/2025 23:15

WitcheryDivine · 17/02/2025 22:41

It’s an Alsatian in Hot Fuzz.

For a person it depends whether you’re white supremacists? If you’re not, do you want to sound like you are?

sorry OP back to the drawing board I think.

Agreed. Loved the name olde English name ‘Wulfric’ (Wolfy for short) too, but as DH is a big hairy metalhead/biker, we decided we didn’t want it to have any of those connotations - even though couldn’t be further from the truth!

EUmumforever · 18/02/2025 23:09

White supremacist vibes

Jimberly!

oakleaffy · 18/02/2025 22:53

Heavy metal band from a long time ago!
Motörhead?

UnderHisEeyore · 18/02/2025 22:49

Sax-On,Sax-Off - it's weirdly Karate Kid that comes to mind?
No from me.

MirandaBlu · 18/02/2025 22:47

Greenfencebrowntree · 18/02/2025 14:06

You have sounded the klaxon!

I was just coming here to suggest "Klaxon" as THE name ...

Mydadsbirthday · 18/02/2025 22:32

Ah haha @WitcheryDivine yes Paxton Hall-Yoshida! Love him!

penguinbiscuity · 18/02/2025 17:27

AnxiouslyAwaitingSpring · 18/02/2025 16:08

Awful. Although there is a boy at DC's school called Cosmo so it could be worse!

Cosmo is much better than Saxon.
It's an actual name for a start, if unusual. It's been used in the UK for centuries.

ThroughThickAndThin01 · 18/02/2025 16:09

Love it

I knew a lovely jack russell named Saxon, he thought he was a great Dane.

😁 I guess he's really working that Big Dog Energy.

Snorlaxo · 18/02/2025 14:28

The Aldi toilet paper is a shame and would put me off.

I know a Dexter (Dex) who is 18 and never been called Sex so I wouldn’t be put off by Sax and Sex being close.

Unfortunately it’s a difficult name to pull off if he’s petite and not the gym going type. If he’s blonde then he could get some white supremacist comments too.
