Sibling for Lucian

I absolutely love the name Lucian and now I'm pregnant with #2 really struggling to find a name I love as much for my next!

I've found I like names that are Latin/Greek origin. Things I look for in a name are; classic but not common, strong but soft, and not too flouncy. Lucian is about as flouncy as I'm willing to go 😂

Bonus points for a cute nickname, (Lucian goes by Louie for short).

We don't know if it's a girl or boy and so far have the following options, none of which I'm set on....

Girls

  • Valentina (Valley)
  • Leonie (Leo)

Boys

  • Demitri (Demi)
  • Lincoln (not sure on Linc for nn!)
  • Rory (potentially getting a bit too used?)

I think Valentine is good and strong for a boy. I don't like the f. version.

Leonie - the name of a former great friend who moved abroad. She never had a nickname, except for Lezza if we were taking the piss a bit.

Demitri is horrible.

Lincoln - again the name of a former great, late friend, who was always called Linc. Lovely man (American of course), and thus good feelings about this name.

Rory is pleasant enough but I'd never choose it for a child nor an animal.

I like Lucian a lot - and it’s very underused

I love Rory but it’s very overdone. I like Leonie but think it’s too twinny with Lucian, Lincoln is a very different vibe (it’s like calling your kids Sebastian and Jayden). Valley is a bit grim. Demitri is a bit random if you aren’t Greek and Demi a bit odd, considering it’s French for half

These seem to have the same vibe to me..

Girls

  • Valentina (Valley) - Beautiful, Valley a bit odd, but ok. Danger of 'Val' which I don't think is particularly nice (sorry to any Vals/Valeries)
  • Leonie (Leo) - Really beautiful, but why shorten it to a predominantly boys name? Bit odd?
Boys
  • Demitri (Demi) - I'd spell it Dimitri, and the same thing with Leonie, why shorten it to a predominantly Girls name?
  • Lincoln (not sure on Linc for nn!) - Rather nice
  • Rory (potentially getting a bit too used?) - bit boring, but it's a lovely name.

Perhaps call a boy Leo and a girl Demi?!

I absolutely love Leonie (Leo) - one of my favourite names, but Louie and Leo are a bit matchy. I also really like Lincoln (I actually like Linc - super cool for a teen!) and Rory is another of my favourites.

Valentina is too frilly for my taste and I don’t like Valley. Demitri is ok but Demi is a girls name to me.

Lucien was on our boy list along with Julian, Edmond and Conrad. Our eldest is Gilbert. I also liked Macsen but my husband didn't.

I love Valentina but she’ll be called Tina or Val, regardless of what nickname you prefer. I’ve been trying to convince DH to use it but he hates both Val and Tina and I can’t say I like either!

I know a male Dimitri, known as Demi, that’s a lovely name.

Our youngest’s best friend was called Natalia. Love the name. Also, Marnie and Hero.

For a boy, Tristan.

(My favourites are what we called our daughter and son. They’re 30 and 21 now and we’ve never come across anyone with the same names. So, I’m not going to say what they are 😁)
