Baby girl names, help!

oneofmeiscutebuttwothough · 25/01/2025 22:30

I welcomed my baby girl a few days ago, she was born early and is currently in NICU. She's just been going by "baby girl [last name]" because my husband and I have been so all over the place we've not been able to come up with anything.

I like the 'vibe' of Olivia, Isabella, Hazel etc., but we can't pick anything. Any help would be welcome!

Hi OP

Just seen your choice! That’s a nice combination. Hope you’ll all be very happy together embarking on this new journey.

We've settled on Elodie Mae, maybe not the most popular on this thread but we think it suits her 😂

Well that's all that matters!

Congratulations OP. Wishing Elodie Mae a wonderful life ❤️

Elodie Mae is sweet.
Ellie Mae and Elmae are cute nick names too

What about Molly or Enna?

Emanwenym · 26/01/2025 18:41

No problem but Ellie as a standalone peaked in about 2002.Add to that all the Eleanor/Elena/Elodie/Eliana/Eloise etc who are probably Ellie too, and all the Ellas, it seems a bit tired.

oneofmeiscutebuttwothough · 26/01/2025 17:26

@WitcheryDivine all the people on here saying they don't like it 😅 is there a problem with there being a lot of Ellie's?

Elodie is nice, but there are SO many Ellies

Estella maybe?

Allegra
Adela
Raphaelle / Raphaella

Congratulations anyways

WitcheryDivine · 26/01/2025 16:08

What’s holding you back from Elodie?

i agree there’s no rush, I didn’t even try to name mine for a week after she was born as I agree it felt too hard!! But I can see in NICU you might want a name sooner so that they can feel more fixed.

Have you tried an app called Kinder? It’s like tinder for names and you and your partner can both swipe and find matches. Some bonkers names but lots of nice ones.

oneofmeiscutebuttwothough · 26/01/2025 15:59

We're not too bothered by her being an Ellie, or it being a commonly used name. We're just so stuck 😂

I don’t like Élodie unless it’s in a French accent. Not keen on Hazel or Isabella (I always think ‘is a bell’ end!)

Melody is nice (Didi for short).
Also Amelia, Sophia, Lillia

I like Olivia but it’s overused.

Middle name:
Hope
Faith
Iris
Faye

Emanwenym · 26/01/2025 13:47

I personally find Elodie a bit strange if not said in a French accent, but I know it is quite popular in the UK at the moment. and she'll be yet another Ellie.
Congratulations and best wishes. Flowers
Take your time to pick a name, you have weeks to decide.

Looking at her, we don't think Violet fits as a middle name.

This is hard!😂

Don't rush into a decision, OP. Try out a few names you like for a while and make your minds up when something feels right.

Some suggestions:

Estelle
Louisa
Adelaide
Lucie
Elena
Diana
Rosalie
Iris
Briony

Congrats OP! I've been following on your other thread. Why don't you try out Elodie for a while and see how it feels? You can always change it if it doesn't fit. We called DD2 one name for a day and actually it didn't seem right when we used it out loud. Tried our second choice the next day and she was that name ever since.

OopsieeDaisy · 26/01/2025 04:02

Congratulations on your little girl, hope she is doing well.
Olivia and Isabella are both lovely names. Violet is a really pretty middle name too. I personally find Elodie a bit strange if not said in a French accent, but I know it is quite popular in the UK at the moment.
