Deciding on a boys name and I think this is the one but saw a comment saying it was chavvy and it's made me doubt myself! Is it classless? I prefer Finn to Finlay or Finley. Other favourites (but I would have to win DH over) are Cassian, Caspian, Felix or Jasper. Help!

OP posts:
Are your children’s vaccines up to date?

Not chavvy.
I know a baby Phin (short for Phineas)

SnidelyWhiplash · 25/01/2025 12:12

Finn is a great name. It’s definitely not chavvy. I’m not keen on Finlay.

I love all the names on your list.

Sk1sk0 · 25/01/2025 12:09

I like it!

Emanwenym · 25/01/2025 11:51

I prefer Finn to Finley (different names as far as I know).
Same here.

Don't think it's dated. Just looked at dark greener. It had a peak around 2005 (which would fit with PP's Finns aged around 20) then went down,
Because parents who wanted to use Finn were opting for Finley instead.
cf. Theo/Theodore.

I think Finn is a bit of a tearaway and Finley a bit wet.

I prefer Finn to Finley (different names as far as I know). Don't think it's dated. Just looked at dark greener. It had a peak around 2005 (which would fit with PP's Finns aged around 20) then went down, then increased in popularity (to greater levels than 2005) around 2018 and has stayed around top 80 names since.

I think it's a lovely name.

Emanwenym · 25/01/2025 11:40

I think it's cool but Finley is too popular.

Mumsgross · 25/01/2025 11:39

I have a Finn, he's 4. I love his name!

user2848502016 · 25/01/2025 11:37

I like it, definitely the best on your list for me.
Cassian and Caspian I don't like.
Felix and Jasper are both nice too but I prefer Finn

sel2223 · 25/01/2025 11:30

I like it but prefer to see the full name on the birth certificate so you give your child the choice when they are older and using their name professionally.

The Finn (Finley) I know is 8

Raininginparadise2 · 25/01/2025 11:05

Springflowersmakeforbetterhours · 25/01/2025 11:03

My Fynn is 21...still love it.

Anewuser · 25/01/2025 11:03

I’ve known two Finns at my school, in thirteen years.

Both lovely children and the name doesn’t feel dated.

Moreteaandchocolate · 25/01/2025 11:00

I love the name Finn! It would be on my shortlist 😊

HomeworkMonitor · 25/01/2025 10:53
