Expecting first baby, a daughter.
Husband is very keen on Maude (also open to Maud). My name is Morgane and I am often called Morg, worried it might sound too similar. Other than that I like it. Thoughts?

I cannot read or say it with out automatically thinking maudlin so it wouldn't be for me. It just has a negative connotation in my mind.

It makes me think of Bea Arthur which isn’t a bad thing really!

One of my friends has always loved the name Maud. I used to dislike it, but it’s really grown on me!

No it is very dated. I was named after a 70’s singer which I hate my Dad loved her.

Ooh I can’t bring myself to like Maude / Maud - sorry - it’s still very dowdy old lady to me - in a comical way. Not even sure if it would grow on me!

I know an English Maude, she is lovely and nobody calls her anything else. It is one syllable so why would they make it longer?

StormingNorman · 23/01/2025 19:18
