Elsy or Eira?

Love girl names that start with "E", but which one is nicest: Elsy or Eira?

(Don't like the -ie ending of Elsie)

I like the name Elsie but don’t like it spelled Elsy, looks wrong and she will spend a lifetime having it spelt “wrong.”

Elsie looks so much nicer than Elsy (and I don't like Elsa at all as per your other thread)

Elsy just looks like a typo for Etsy

I voted for Elsy.
Elsy is quite a common spelling in my Scandinavian home country.

I love Eira but I’m welsh so know how it should be pronounced (def not eye-ra)

so unless in wales I’d steer clear.

i have a longer name and am sometimes called Elsy as a nn but it is pronounced elzee not Elsie which I gather is not what you’re after

Thank you all! 😊 It seems "Elsy" isn't a spelling that would go down very well 😝

Someone said "Elsa", which we also like - so I will make another poll with Elsa and Eira ☺️

I prefer Elsy as it looks prettier than Eira but that's because we have Eira in my language and I never liked it ana it sounds harsh.

For some reason Elsy looks like it's pronounced Elzee not Elsie. I'm not keen on it.

I like Eira but only pronounced Ayra.

Ay-ra in North Wales and Eye-ra in South Wales. It means Snow ❄️

Elsie is nice with that spelling. Eira makes me think of Éire (Ireland), doesn't seem the nicest of girls names!

I assumed you couldn't spell, hence writing it Elsy! Elsie is lovely, Elsy is awful and a lifetime of 'No, its spelt ELSY' 🙄

How is Eira pronounced? Eye-Ra? I had thought this was a boys name, but that might be written Ira?

Some other ideas: Enid, Erin, Elisse, Evie, Edie. Eden.

Neither, sorry. Eira looks like it woupd be pronounced a bit like 'error'. Elsy is spelled wrongly.
