Baby Boy Name Opinion 🩵

Elly1995 · 22/01/2025 23:43

Hello all,

I have found out I am having a baby boy, and would like to hear your opinions on the name I like for him.

First name: Elio
Middle name: Heath

Elio Heath.

What do you all think please? I am looking for uncommon, a bit different but still likeable + not a name where he could get picked on when he starts school.

Thanks.

I think of the naughty monkey in Night at the museum ☺️

I like Edison + Dalton, I have been thinking of Edison Rio. I don’t think Elliot is for me, it’s too common.

OP if you don’t like common names avoid Rio. I hear it constantly on a football pitch every Sunday.

Mumofgirls39 · 21/02/2025 00:45

Sorry OP but I don't love either esp together. Just being honest as I so need that in pregnancy. Some of my name choices were bizarre (not saying yours are btw!) with my first pregnancy and I am so relieved I was talked out of them.

The problem you've got is that Elio is blurred into Heath so it sounds like Elioeath. (Say it quickly without the pause and aitch.) If it was something like like Elio Davide (I assume you're Italian to pick Elio?), it'd be better.

Heath I prefer actually but I'm not sure it 'goes' with Elio at all if it matters to you. Btw, I think it's fine if they don't really flow well if it's a family member being honoured.

But you might not approve of our name selections as I'm sure many don't! It's down to you and DP at the end of the day!

Rainingalldayonmyhead · 21/02/2025 00:43

We know an Elio and that kid constantly gets asked iIf his name is Elliot or is it short for Elliot so I would say no.

Heath is too Heath Ledger or a place.

Unfortunately OP I think the majority have given the same opinion.

iPhoneYouPhone · 21/02/2025 00:31

What about the other strong, powerful name beginning with 'El', ie Elon?

AmateurNoun · 21/02/2025 00:30

I had never heard of the name Elio when OP started this thread but it seems that the new Pixar film coming out this summer is called 'Elio'

https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Elio_(film)

So I think people are about to become more familiar with it as a name, but maybe a bit too familiar with it as they will assume it's after the film.

I think Evander is nice OP.

My son is named Elio and he is the most popular little sunshine boy in his class. He’s excelling in all areas. His classmates truly adore him and he’s genuinely the most handsome little guy with floppy blonde hair and big blue eyes (we’re both dark hair and brown eyed) we joke he was sent from heaven because he looks like a cherub! Whilst I am not saying his name added to this, it fits his sunshine, beautiful personality and every little 6 year old girl in his class is falling over to try and grab a play date with him so I think he will be absolutely fine with his sweet, sunshine name ❤️

Ashitaliamum · 21/02/2025 00:05

Oh I am not sure if you have had your baby boy yet but I HAD to comment to say that Elio is the most beautiful baby boys name. We had our little Elio in 2017, and he is the most beautiful sunshine baby boy we could have ever imagined. The name historically is sunshine/god in Latin and it’s very popular in Italy and France. All the families in our little Yorkshire village love our boys name and truly he lives up to it. He’s so beautiful, kind, honest, and he’s a proper little family guy. Adorable x

Enough4me · 08/02/2025 23:41

Out of al of them, I think Dalton Rico sounds nice.

GiovJones16 · 08/02/2025 23:32

Elio means Helium in Italian

Evander is more like it. I know a fair few young Evanders and Evans. Oh and Euans and Ewans. And Ethans. Boys names are hard 😂

I didn’t realise Evander was such a common name, I am looking for something a bit more unique but still likeable.

Not keen on Elio (but then again I don’t like the name Elliot either which is similar) but I do like Ellis.

I do like Heath a lot though surprisingly!

Love love Dalton, and Heath!

I don't mind Elio but Dalton hits my ears better.

Dalton Heath? Sounds great!

Sounds like a team from the lower leagues that have made it into the later rounds of the FA cup.

Tottenham are away to Dalton Health.

Dalton Heath's goalkeeper is a delivery driver.

Chuchoter · 08/02/2025 20:39

Elio is awful. Sounds like a brand name for a yoghurt.

Lilliea · 08/02/2025 20:37

I like Ennio. Not Elio.

pearbottomjeans · 08/02/2025 20:37

Elly1995 · 08/02/2025 18:34

Thank you.

We are thinking of Evander Laurie or Evander Rio or Evander Benson. 🩵

Dalton Heath sounds like a bleak park in the outskirts of London I’m sorry to say.

Elio is fine on the surface but in reality will blend into a sea of Elliot, Elias, Theo, Leo, Milo, Arlo, and then all the endless girl El- names too. Plus confusion whether Ell-eo or Ee-leo (I know you’ve said, but you haven’t said to everyone and people will definitely get it wrong).

JollyGreenSnake · 08/02/2025 20:18

Not to my taste. Evander sounds too like Ollivander in Harry Potter world

MoodySky · 08/02/2025 19:09

Elio Heath sounds like an estate agents. Ditto Dalton Heath.

Evander Heath is a lovely, dashing name.

Thank you.

I love it! Why not

CurlewKate · 05/02/2025 18:45

Is you want the Italian pronunciation of Elio you won't get it in the UK.....

cheezmonster · 05/02/2025 18:35

Neither Edison nor Dalton are to my taste, but both are much better than Elio.

Elio is a terrible name and he will be constantly misnamed as Eliot.

When you are thinking of names for your children, think about what you would like to be called yourself. They have to carry this through their entire life. Personally I would hate to be called Elio.

Beansandneedles · 04/02/2025 22:04

There's an Elio in DD's class, think it's really cute.

Not a fan of it with Heath, but so far I've been a parent 6 years to multiple children and can still count on one hand the number of times I've said their full names out loud (after the initial announcement period) so if you like it then go for it!

IamnotwhouthinkIam · 04/02/2025 21:56

I like both Elio and Heath - and am especially fond of romantic sounding Heath. I think many people know how to pronounce Elio after Call me by Your Name, it’s the sort of name that’s on the rise (because of the trendy O ending and popular El- start like Elliot and Elias).

Less keen on Dalton and Edison as they are very American sounding Surname-as-first-name to me (although of the two I much prefer Edison as it’s an interesting scientific namesake).

I don’t think it matters whether the middle name is uncommon though, as it will be rarely used- personally I like middle names that have strong meaning to the parents in some way, like a family members/friends name, fave author/singer etc. Heath(cliff) would be ideal for a subtle Wuthering Heights link for Brontë lovers for example.
