I like Franklin, though it’s quite popular if that bothers you

Carson is awful

RogueFemale · 23/01/2025 01:17

I like Franklin as it reminds me of the Furry Freak Brothers.

Freewheelin' Franklin!

RogueFemale · 23/01/2025 01:17

I like Franklin as it reminds me of the Furry Freak Brothers.

Viavitaperro · 23/01/2025 01:17

Oh, I hate Franklin.

ODFOx · 23/01/2025 01:16

Depends if you are married I suppose. Use your DH's surname if you're married, or your own surname if not.

Viavitaperro · 23/01/2025 01:16

I hate both.
Some celebrity had Parker, then Carter.
Awful. As is Hudson.
Sorry !
Much nicer names out there.

ChonkyRabbit · 23/01/2025 01:11

I don't like either. Carson is a surname and Franklin is a surname or an elderly man.

RobertaFirmino · 23/01/2025 00:57

I keep thinking of Wee Willie Carson.

Whatthebarnacles · 22/01/2025 00:06

I know a 16yo called carson. Really suited him as a child and 100% does as a young man. Lovely name.

GreylingsSkin · 22/01/2025 00:02

Neither. Both sound like working class American names.

rosemole · 22/01/2025 00:01

It's the way they tell 'em @JustCuttinAboot

AppleDumplingWithCustard · 21/01/2025 23:58

Neither. But then I don’t like surnames being used as first names.

IamnotwhouthinkIam · 21/01/2025 23:47

I think there are nicer “surname as first name” style names out there personally, but of the two - Franklin, no contest. Franklin at least has some cool historical namesakes, although it will like be shortened to “Frank” very quickly (which isn’t my cup of tea personally).

You might like:
Heath
Sullivan
Clark
Bennett
Elliott
Cormac
Callahan
Brody
Fraser
Lewis
Willoughby

Scutterbug · 21/01/2025 23:46

Not a fan of either tbh.

Moreteaandchocolate · 21/01/2025 23:45

Franklin is my favourite. Carson isn’t my usual style of name but would fit in well with the names of young boys round us.

Mademetoxic · 21/01/2025 22:12

Franklin is a protagonist from GTA V....

Carson is American and a surname...

They're both stupid names, sorry.

BootballJoy · 21/01/2025 22:06

Franklin

HugoYorway · 21/01/2025 20:37

Neither. Frank is OK.

Sk1sk0 · 21/01/2025 19:54

Going against the grain with a vote for Carson

GoodVibesHere · 21/01/2025 19:50

I don't like either sorry.

I think there's a cartoon Franklin, it sounds cartoony to me.

Carson is somehow neither here nor there, it's not a strong name but is trying to be quirky. It's a bit wet.

shoopshoopdedoo · 21/01/2025 19:46

KevinAndTracy · 21/01/2025 19:07

I don't like either but if forced I would pick Franklin becauset it can be shortened to Frank which is nice

Was about to say exactly this!

IsThePopeCatholic · 21/01/2025 19:46

Neither.

BornSandyDevotional · 21/01/2025 19:41

I always think of Carson as a girl's name because of McCullers. I don't know why Harper has caught on. But not Carson. She was fascinating and I still weep reading The member of the wedding. Franklin is okay. But a bit President Roosevelt. I'm a bit scared of American presidents currently. Francis and Frank for short is still nice, I think. Or are you actually looking to name him after Frank Carson? In which case, just do the Beckham place name thing and call him Blackpool?

CoffeeBeansGalore · 21/01/2025 19:35

I dislike both. Sorry.

"Older" vibe names -
Wilbur
Wilfred
Arthur
Harry
William
Edward
Edmund
Peter

Thomas
Samuel

I know an adorable little Carson.
I don't know why Franklin makes me think of a turtle? Must be on a kids tv program or something.
