I have an Edwin….it took me a LONG time to feel comfortable with his name as I had pnd. But now I love it. Henry was on my list too, and dc1 has the middle name alexander, so we clearly have similar taste! I do think Edwin has better nn options for teen years.

It’s funny how spelling makes a difference to how a name feels;

Edwin is a pasty faced boy who tells tales on the other kids in an Enid Blyton story.
Edwyn hears the voices of the Old Gods in a Susan Cooper book.

Henry is a dependable all-rounder, unless you’re feeling a bit Francesca Simon.

Henry is my favourite but it’s very, very overused around us and Henry Alexander Mac… would be HAM.

So my vote is for Edwin 😊

AKettleOfDifferentFish · 19/01/2025 10:02

Edwin 😍

Waterboatlass · 19/01/2025 10:02

Oh I love Alexander. Henry out of the two. Edwin fine but I much prefer Edward.

Agreed that Henry Alexander M is HAM. Not the best initials. Not Benjamin Uriel Mac level but not ideal.

RuthW · 19/01/2025 10:00

Edwin. My fav name ever.

Henry too boring and loads about.

user2848502016 · 19/01/2025 09:58

I really like Edwin, Henry is overused I think

Brodpit · 19/01/2025 09:52

I love Edwin! And Henry is one of my favourite boys names. I like two middle names - go for both?

Henry Edwin Alexander Mac sounds super.

Moier · 19/01/2025 09:48

I love Edwin.
Gorgeous name.

Whatzzitz · 19/01/2025 09:47

Henry is great, not keen on Edwin

Enko · 19/01/2025 09:45

I love Edwin. Much nicer than Henry

shoopshoopdedoo · 19/01/2025 09:40

Alexander as first name gets my vote!

Otherwise, I prefer Henry Alexander but both options are nice.

I don't like Edwin, but both are fine names, just not to my taste. My vote goes to Henry
