I'm six months pregnant with first and expecting a daughter. Italian family.

Stuck between Annabella and Isabella.

Which do you like best?

I think I prefer Annabella although they're both nice.

KayEmAy · 26/03/2025 14:43

Annabella, I also like Annabelle

Sleepington · 26/03/2025 13:46

I like Isabel/Isabella but not Annabelle/Annabella. It’s too frilly for me.

Annabella

Wanners · 23/03/2025 21:48

These are my 2 daughter’s middle names. My maiden name was Bell so I was being clever by having an ‘is a Bell’ and an ‘and a Bell’

Really like Isabella though it is popular. I like Annabelle and Arabella but not Annabella. Somehow its a syllable too long. I think because it sounds like two equally emphasised names stuck together, in a way the others don’t. Whereas the Ara part of arabella is much lighter, less plodding.

This is exactly what I think.

I still like Annabella but think Annabelle and Arabella are slightly more elegant/sophisticated and less frilly. I think they work for a grown woman better.

There are too many Annabelle/Annabelle/
Annabel/Annabell/Isabella/Isabell/Isabelles already imo

Emanwenym · 23/03/2025 19:18

@YourAmberFawn , it isn't but if you look at Isabella/Arabella/Annabelle/Isabelle then it seems to be samey.

I get you, but personally I’ve never met an Annabella and I think it’s a gorgeous name - I think it stands out from the others similar to it. I’m not sure why.

shoopshoopdedoo · 23/03/2025 20:29

I’m not keen on either - both a bit too long and frilly for my taste. I’d probably pick Isabella of the two. But there are so many other gorgeous Italian names!

Annabella isn’t that popular! I say go for Annabella.

I agree. It’s Isabella that’s heavily used.

They're both beautiful names but really really popular in the UK at the moment. Would you consider another Italian name that isn't as popular in the UK? Such a beautiful language. Congratulations and if you do end up picking either of those names they are beautiful but expect there to be several with the same name in their class!

Annabella. It’s very slightly less popular. There will be at least three Isabellas/Isobels/Isabels/Annabellas/Annabelles/ Arabellas/Bellas in every class.

ginasevern · 23/03/2025 17:24

Annabella because Isabella has become ubiquitous.

Bluelavenders · 23/03/2025 17:18

Definitely Isabella

Annabella sounds like anabolic

Calliopespa · 23/03/2025 16:19

Annabella I prefer because Isabella has been overused for about 15 years now.

Annabella is fresher - though personally I’d opt for Annabelle or Arabella because they both sound slightly less frilly with the “ harder” r sound added or without the extra a at the end . But it’s a lovely name all the same.

Firsttimebabymummy · 10/01/2025 14:25

Prefer Isabella but I'd pick Anna if that was an option.

Sunnyflow · 10/01/2025 14:10

Isabella is much more elegant and classy

Annabella sounds frilly and ridiculous to me.

TangerineClementine · 10/01/2025 12:20

Annabella, because I prefer Anna to Izzy for a nickname.

Needanewname42 · 10/01/2025 12:19

Isabella or Isabel

Annabella, Annabel is too close to the doll.

Emanwenym · 10/01/2025 11:27

Whoarethoseguys · 10/01/2025 11:08

It really doesn't!
I prefer Annabella because then she can choose to be Anna if she prefers which is much nicer than Izzy.

It does, @Whoarethoseguys , and it also sounds like Arabella. It seems every other female dog or cat is called Bella too. Annabel is Ok, but Annabella is too long and frilly.
Anna is better than Izzy though.

HaroldMeaker · 10/01/2025 11:10

Isabella is lovely. I don't really like Annabella, just a bit frilly to my taste. Also I'm hearing it everywhere so it's become v popular.
