Camille or Clara

We've whittled it down to two names! Which do you prefer?

Clara
Camille

DD1 is Orla :) (Not fussed about keeping siblings in the Irish category)

Both are lovely but Camille goes better with Orla.

Twixtmasjigsaw · 07/01/2025 09:13

Camille is beautiful...

twiddleit · 06/01/2025 14:49

My mums chicken was Clara cluck...

CherryVanillaPie · 06/01/2025 14:18

I prefer Camille. I'm less keen on Camilla, but like Camille.

mommyandmore · 06/01/2025 14:12

Thank you all so much! I think we will go for Clara. The more I think about it the more I love it. It is a bit of a mouth full with Orla but I read an interesting POV that the girls will be together as siblings for such a short duration of their lives that it's not often they'll be paired together in this way. I will most likely refer to them as the girls when speaking about them both too.

Thanks everyone! Really appreciate you all taking the time to give me your opinions xx

I can see why it's a tough choice, they're both absolutely lovely! Wink

Thank you all for your thoughts! Seems like Clara has the majority! X

Yes, my vote is for Clara, but if you were willing to change Camille to Camilla I would vote for Camilla.

PassMeTheCookies · 04/01/2025 00:41

Oh I love Camille! Such a beautiful name.

Clara is also very lovely, but I that Orla and Clara, or Clara and Orla is a bit of a mouthful. I think Camille works better with Orla.

MissScarletInTheBallroom · 04/01/2025 00:40

Clara.

Theextraordinaryisintheordinary · 04/01/2025 00:33

She could always be Clarabelle on paper if you need it to be different from Orla. Good luck with it all.

Theextraordinaryisintheordinary · 04/01/2025 00:28

Both beautiful. Always loved Clara. Such a lovely old name.

theduchessofspork · 04/01/2025 00:25

Clara

I think Camille will be murdered in too many UK accents

sel2223 · 03/01/2025 22:24

Judging by MN, Clara seems to be rapidly gaining in popularity.
I prefer Camille

Onlyvisiting · 03/01/2025 20:50

Camille

Clara seems over popular, based on the amount of times it crops up on here the last few months I predict an abundance of little Clara's in the next year!.
I'm not sure where it's come from, I've never met a clara in my life and can't think of any particularly famous ones? In fact my only association with it is Aunt Clara in bewitched! Which isn't negative but not very baby friendly.....

Scutterbug · 03/01/2025 20:43

Love Clara.

Bizarrely don’t like Camille but really like Camilla!

EcruCardigan · 03/01/2025 20:40

I don't really like either of them, but I do like Cara.

I like Camille but really don’t like Clara

GreyhoundGal1 · 03/01/2025 08:27

Much prefer Camille with Orla. I think Clara is too similar. Like both names though!

Nc54684 · 03/01/2025 08:01

Camille sounds French and I feel like I would think your child was half French. I like Camilla instead.
also like Clara

ConstanceM · 02/01/2025 23:39

Camilla will NEVER be my Queen. 👑

SkaneTos · 02/01/2025 23:38

They are both lovely names.

Kalasbyxor · 02/01/2025 23:35

Camille is lovely. I tend to think of it as a boy's name but know it's unisex. I suppose Camilla isn't on the cards, or you would probably have said?

Idontevenknowmyname · 02/01/2025 23:33

How will Camille be pronounced? Because in French it sounds like Cami. In English I suspect it will become camel, or cam-eel. Which is less nice.
Of course Clara can be Clare-ah or clah-rah. So I guess either could be a challenge.

I like Clara, with the second pronunciation above.

ZoyaTheDestroyer · 02/01/2025 23:31

Objectively, Clara, but ‘Clara and Orla’ is a mouthful, so Camille - but even better, Camilla.
