Looking for a middle name that goes with the name Aurora please

Baby is a week old and everyone keeps asking us for the name but we don't want to announce it until we've decided on the whole name

I thought Rose but we also were considering Evelyn

Other suggestions would be appreciated please

OP didn't ask for opinions on Aurora as a name

I don't think a middle name beginning with a vowel, an R, or the letter L would work.

Are you in Scotland?

As I don't think this name works at all unless you've got an accent that makes the r sound harder, like the Scottish one would.

Otherwise to me it sounds like "a roarer" and then I just think of lions... and then as above you have those with speech impediments around the letter r. Could be problematic!

Also as above, it needs a hard sound to come after, not a vowel and definitely not another r. So neither of your two initial suggestions.

Sorry. Just not a fan.

eggandonion · 01/01/2025 23:53

Belle.
And speech therapist can assist with R if needed.

Pick a ‘normal’ middle name so that she can choose (if she wishes to) to go by her middle name when older. I can’t imagine many people want to use the name Aurora in the office

I work with a 30 something Aurora, never thought her name was particularly out there it’s just her name 🤷🏻‍♀️

PreggersWithBaby2 · 01/01/2025 23:42

Consider having no middle name if you are really struggling? Nobody uses it anyway. I like the suggestion a few others have said of a middle name after someone on the family. I think 1 syllable names sound best with Aurora. My fave suggestions on this thread are Aurora Kate or Aurora Jade.

sel2223 · 01/01/2025 23:42

Congratulations OP.

As Aurora is quite a flouncy name, I'd go for something very simple with 1 syllable for the middle name:

Aurora Grace
Aurora Jean
Aurora Fern
Aurora Leigh
Aurora May
Aurora Kate

There's an Elizabeth Barrett Browning poem called 'Aurora Leigh' but maybe that's a bit much! Cool name to have though.

Aurora Sophie?

brummumma · 01/01/2025 22:35

I'd avoid Aurora all together ....honestly...it's awful. You are raising an actual human being who will be an adult one day not a Disney princess. I'd be a bit embarrassed if anyone in my immediate family called their baby it
