Frank

I find Joseph very religious sounding and I hate Joe

Firsttimebabymummy · 01/01/2025 09:03

Joseph

Joseph

Joseph. Frankie is a nickname, not a proper name. It's very childish too. Imagine the child as an adult in a professional job called Frankie! Sweet for a toddler but wouldn't saddle a child with it on a BC.

IamnotwhouthinkIam · 31/12/2024 21:37

Joseph, no contest - timeless, so you can’t guess age or social background. Frankie is unfortunately trendy and also a bit downmarket where I live, sorry.

RuthW · 31/12/2024 20:59

Joseph.

Frankie is a nickname.

CrashThere · 31/12/2024 19:42

Joseph - stripy coat wearer, might get a lead role in the school nativity play
Frankie - Howerd, Boyle

AsTheLightFades · 31/12/2024 19:13

Frankie -dreadful 1980's Sister Sledge song
Joseph - cuckolded husband who is required to rejoice that his wife has been impregnated by 'god' and bring up child as own.
So neither!

Sunnnybunny72 · 31/12/2024 18:58

Joseph.

BBQPete · 31/12/2024 18:44

Joseph. Or Frank. But not Frankie.

You could still refer to your baby / toddler Frankie, but he is not going to want to be called Frankie as a teen or adult.

I still prefer Joseph and Joe.

BoleynMemories13 · 31/12/2024 18:29

Joseph is a handsome classic, and Joe is a great short form which suits all ages.

Frankie is very trendy and of the moment. I think Frank or Francis are better on the birth certificate, nickname Frankie. Frankie is quite infantile.

Just to balance out all those saying it's a girls name though, I know more boys on balance called Frankie. I do know girls too, it's definitely unisex, but I wouldn't automatically assume girl. It's statistically more popular for boys.

I much prefer Joseph though.

Joseph

Just because there are a lot of Franks about that at the moment - if you do go for that I’d call him Frank or Franklin (or Francis) as a full name, Frankie is cute but he might want something more grown up.

ThroughThickAndThin01 · 31/12/2024 16:02

Joseph (if you don’t mind Joe)

Groovee · 31/12/2024 16:00

Joseph always reminds me of the musical. Frankie is quite popular just now.

user2848502016 · 31/12/2024 15:25

Joseph. I think Frankie will sound dated in a few years but Joseph is timeless.

FrogOnAYuleLog · 31/12/2024 15:05

Joseph - classic, not trendy, many short-name options, suits every age, always a friendly, cool, fun person. (Well, not always Stalin but you know!)

Newuser75 · 31/12/2024 14:59

Joseph! Definitely.

MolkosTeenageAngst · 31/12/2024 14:59

Joseph. I agree with the PP who said they’d see Frankie as a girls name.

TheFormidableMrsC · 31/12/2024 14:58

Joseph (but I'm biased). The only Frankie's I know are girls and we've got two in the family.

shoopshoopdedoo · 31/12/2024 14:56

Joseph!

I’ve a soft spot for Frank, but I’m not keen on Frankie.

FluffMagnet · 31/12/2024 14:44

By an immense margin, Joseph. A lovely name.

RaspberryBeretxx · 31/12/2024 14:44

Joseph is beautiful. I knew a horrible Frank so that has affected that name! And I think Frankie is nicer on a girl for some reason 🤔.

MooseAndSquirrelLoveFlannel · 31/12/2024 14:44

Frankie really likes to relax......or so i have heard.

CrashThere · 31/12/2024 14:43

Joseph

AmateurNoun · 31/12/2024 14:25

Joseph. Frank/Frankie may be more trendy but will date. Joseph will always be a good choice.
