I know how commonly Rose is used as a middle name, but how common is it as a first name? Just straight up Rose, rather than any variants. How many do you know/are there in your DC classes etc? Thank you.

I go to a lot of different toddler groups (DC hasn’t started nursery yet) and have met only one Rose.

It’s lovely imo -very classic, elegant, yet romantic. It also feels reasonably timeless (which is fairly uncommon for a popular girls name) so defies age or social background expectations. It was high on my girls name list - but I’m less keen on (descriptive) Rosie and wondered if it would get lengthened.

I know 2 in their 20s or early 30s. It sounds elegant and succinct. There's a beauty in knowing it could be something a lot fussier but doesn't need the extra adornment.

You don't come across it that often as a first name but it's well known enough from variants and middle names that I would never make the Rose West connection unless there was a similar surname.

What about Rosemary? Then, she could shorten her name if she chooses as an adult. You could call her rose from day 1, but it gives options for her to choose later in life

I work in a primary school- there are none. I know of one , two year old. It’s a beautiful name.
