Lyra's sibling is called...

36 weeks pregnant and the sex of the baby is a surprise.

For a boy we love Harry and that will be his name.

Girls is the struggle. We can't have/don't want another L name, which rules out names we like such as Lilian. Our surname is also a colour, so we don't want a flower or gem.

Don't like anything too twee or floral sounding. Would like something feminine and strong, like Lyra....

Names we like but won't use:
Lilian
Ruby
Charlotte
Sienna
Violet
Harper

Names we like and might potentially use:
Bridget (Bridie)
Nina
Harriet (Hattie)
Eloise

If anyone has any other suggestions please give me your thoughts!

Thanks so much everyone! Some really lovely suggestions.

Some we can't use, and others that are really nice but don't feel like "us".

I think from feedback/ other suggestions the shortlist is definitely Nina and Harriet. My favourite being Nina and DH's being Harriet.

But he named Lyra so I get final say this time 😂

Ines and Chloe would also work but Chloe might be too 'pretty' from what you've said.

Seraphina and Marisa have the same energy (both also from the His Dark Materials books). Bella and Eve also work well.

Nina works well with Lyra.

I also like Hebe. Similarly slightly different like Lyra and a strong name.

Love Clara and did have on my list, but a friend pointed out that it sounded weird with our surname. Which is does, but it might be a bit outing to say why 😂

Can't use Evelyn, really like Vivian though, but not keen on the NN 'Viv'

Nina and Eloise are gorgeous. Lyra always reminds me of a lyre and therefore of classical Greece, so I'd go with something like Calliope (nn Cally), Cassandra (nn Cassie), etc. My favourite is Artemis but that might be a bit out there!

Oh I really like Hera! I think we would be more inclined to use as a middle name though...

I love Aurora with the shortening Rory. I also really like Elodie, but I think it may be too 'pretty' if that makes any sense
