Baby already 3 weeks old...Emil or Elio?

As the title says really. Very hard for us to come up/agree on boys names, and even harder to pick one.

Emil or Elio? These are our current choices.

We live in France, we are from U.K., Spain, and Ireland. Other boys' names suggestions also welcome!

Emilio? Then you can use either Emil or Elio as diminutives.

How about a combo - Emilio? He can choose nickname when older

this reminds me too much of character although i love the name😅

Leon

Emmet is lovely

stuckonnamesbigtime · 19/11/2024 06:33

I think we're going with Emil, and I might use Emilio as a little nickname 😊 even though it's longer!

I LOVE the idea of combining the 2 and calling him Emilio!

I like Emil. Friend has a teenage one pronounced EMM-ill, which is apparently the English pronunciation.

Not the English pronunciation that I am familiar with

Felix. Great name.

Youvebeenframed · 18/11/2024 09:02

…. Or Emerson

Youvebeenframed · 18/11/2024 09:01

Emmet ?

Greentreesandbushes · 18/11/2024 08:58

Helio - with a silent H works.

B2Y · 18/11/2024 08:57

What about Emmett? A lovely Irish name.

HEC2746 · 18/11/2024 08:43

Emil by far. We know one and it’s a great name, though I know his parents get a teeny bit frustrated that it should be pronounced “e’-mil”, quite a short, sharp sound, whereas in the UK it can softened a little to “eh-mill” - not sure I’ve managed to explain that well but in the UK some people go nearer the French pronunciation.

Daisybuttercup12345 · 18/11/2024 08:24

Both sound girlish to me. Emily and Ellie.

Stowickthevast · 18/11/2024 08:22

Interested to know whether the Spanish would pronounce Elio "el-ee-o," while I think in English we'd say "ee-lee-o" .

Both good choices but Elio may have more mispronunciations.

orangeblosssom · 18/11/2024 08:17

Elio

Wherethewildthingsfart · 18/11/2024 07:59

I love Elio but see it’s now between Felix or Emil so Emil. I love Felix but it’s a bit dull next to the other two names!

Calphurnia · 18/11/2024 07:56

How about Elias?
I love all your choices BTW (not entirely helpful I know!)

Sorry wrong quote

sammyxo1 · 18/11/2024 07:51

Emil is nice

Elio reads like Elmo and would probably be pronounced wrong

Felix sounds like a cats name

Sillysausage76 · 18/11/2024 07:50

I've heard kids called Enzo and Ezra recently

Pillarsofsalt · 18/11/2024 07:49

Emil is a great strong name.
Felix is a bit wet.

Emile? Emil just looks like you've left a letter off

Love this name and. Idea
