Camille, Winnie, Nellie

Hey everyone. Camille, Winnie and Nellie are our current top contenders for our little girl. Just came on here to hear some thoughts/any name similarities you may have. Thank you!

My preference is Camille.
I like Camilla even better with the more certain pronunciation.

I would pick Nell over Nellie as I’m old enough to remember Nellie the Elephant.

Winnie makes me think Pooh so would avoid on those grounds.

Camille is the best - very French and sophisticated vibe.

I really dislike Winnie and Nellie so definitely Camille!! I think it's a cute name but will sound mature for when she grows up whereas Winnie and Nellie sound very infantile to me

Nellie is definitely my favourite! I don’t think it needs to be short for anything (although I also love it as short for Penelope or Eleanor). I know two baby Nellies born in the past year, so I think it’s becoming normalised as a standalone name around me.

I do know a young Winnie but I’ve never grown to like the name despite the child being lovely. I still think of Winnie the Pooh or a horse noise!

Im not at all keen on Camille - it sounds a bit old fashioned (in a frumpy way) and the different pronunciations put me off.

I think they have different vibes.

Camille sounds French and is the most classy if the three.

Winnie and Nellie are more old English names. Is Winnie short for Wilhelmina? Nellie always sounds like a nn to me also - Helena, Ellen, etc ( and reminds me of Nellie the Elephant).

Of the three, Camille is easily my favourite.

Camille is the most sensible option. Winnie would need to be short for something like Guinivere and likewise Nellie… Leonora?

Not keen on Winnie or Nellie. If you like Nellie as a nickname, I'd go for Helen/Helena/Eleanor/Elinor so she has a choice as she grows up.

I don't like Winnie at all but Camille and Nellie are both nice. Would Nellie be short for Eleanor?

I have a feeling Camille will be the favourite on here, but I don't love it with an English pronunciation. Names like Winnie, Nellie, Minnie, Dottie etc are quite popular these days - I was surprised when i first heard them as they were so unfashionable when I was younger, but you get used to them. I think my favourites in that style are Effie, Emmy, Cassie, Peggy and Bessie.

I actually met a 4 year old Winnie earlier at a playgroup. She was a lovely little girl but everytime her parent called her name it sounded odd. So I'm not sure I like it.

Camille is lovely, sophisticated on an adult but quite cute on a child too

Nellie is OK on a toddler. Nell works better abd avoids Nellie the elephant
